The Magic are fairly expensive (more than $21 million over the cap next season) and I think that he might be a guy that could be made available. His offensive efficiency numbers have tanked this season, with the Magic continuing to play him out of position, and it's possible they look to do something else at that 3-spot. If so, what would it take to get him; particularly if we'd be willing go take on Al-Farouq Aminu's contract?
We need shooters, especially if we're building around Mitch and RJ as starters. Looking likely that whoever we draft won't be a good shooter either, so I'd be very hesitant at adding another non-shooter to the starting lineup
Arron Gordon's all-around performance would be a better improvement than the grade C- minus performance we received from Randle. The Magics are gonna want a lot more than just Randle in a trade for Gordon.
The Knicks number # 1 need are a decent NBA veteran head-coach (Mark Jackson or Kidd), whom has a game-plan and the experience to get players into his plan, and a new coaching-staff (Top assistant Kenny Atkinson).
The Knicks young-core group of MitchRob & Frank & Project Smith Jr. & Project Knox & Project Barrett need a experience NBA Head-Coach, plus a top-assistant developer coach on the staff. They dont need shooters, they need veteran mentor teammates having the skills to play both sides of the court in a lineup.
I was not thrilled bout RJ Barrett's poor rookie performance, he showed repeatedly he's not a starter or 30+ plus minute NBA player at the 2-spot throughout his rookie season (Whom idea was it to put the rookie in the starter lineup? His name is not Zion!!!).
I actually believe 100% the Knicks would have won a lot more games if 2nd season Allonzo Trier were to received the 30+ plus minute as starter at the 2-spot throughout the Knicks first 40 games of the season, instead of a one-move ROOKIE who don't play both sides of the court well.
And the second-season MitchRob (and rookie RJ Barrett) should've been coming off the bench to earn their starter-ship position by showing their best skills, and staying out of foul trouble by letting their much needed skills gain them extra minutes to be in the starter lineup last season.
The Knicks organization are a MESS .. that just FIRED their president and coach !!!
