Considering the loss of revenue, paying employees to isolate, and the reticence of some fans to pack a stadium, cant say I would blame him. Hoping Rose can convince Dolan that he can get fans back in the seats (whenever that is) without resorting to a quick fix.
Arena's won't be allowed the filled so ticket sales are irrelevant this year- nba is looking at no crowds to start with and then maybe 20% capacity. Taking on any big name or contract this season would be madness- there's no reason to do it. Next season will suck (lucky if it doesn't get disrupted), take it as a development year, and focus on the season after it
Ticket sales are relevant, if players are signed to max deals, max years. At some point ticket sales will be a factor. Hoping it doesnt lead to some hasty decisions.
what is the number - 40% of revenue comes from ticket sales? That is what I saw.
So - what is new cap at 60% of the old number!
Of course, at some point, there is a vaccine and then things return to normal - but that normal will be a new normal, and this year and possibly next year are blips that will be felt for a while.
There is still China which might not relent on pressing the brakes on the NBA
Look at the trend in the cap - from Wikipedia:

I could easily see a cap # of $80-90M over the next 2-5 years as a new normal.
And Chris Paul at $40m is half of that!
