Guessing mgmt believes fans will want to turn the clock back a bit and bring Melo back in part for sentimantal reasons. Times being what they are now. I hope we have a team good enough to make Melo not mind coming off the bench. Not too keen on Melo starting. Not sentimental for ISO ball.
I feel the same way. I enjoyed Melo's time in NY but it has passed. I don't see him taking on a Vince Carter type role but I could be wrong. He also may not be ready to retire after next year. I thought it was interesting that Berman thinks Rose will bring in some star power to MSG.
We saw Melo lead the team in assists for a season. We talk about "Olympic Melo" Id be happy with that Melo who was looking to get everyone involved. It could happen. Just dont want to see Melo get an outsized role in the offense.
Dont know what Berman is basing this on, but I hope he's right about star power. Have to give credit to Perry for giving the Knicks the flexibilty to do that
Perry “Gave the knicks flex”? Really? Like a gift? OR Devine intervention? Or Defied Mills? Or The owner told him to keep it all open as he did with Layden before Isiah cashed it all in? I do like this build up of assets and its gong to be interesting if, how and when they use it.
Yes, really. What did Mills do between the time Phil was fired, and Perry was hired? Sign Baker to how much? Sign Hardaway for how much?
Dont believe its a coincidence that the deals got better for NY's cap flexibilty after Perry was hired. You want to praise Mills again, be my guest. I didnt see that discipline pre-Perry.
Relax......
My point is not about MIlls and Baker, its not Perry driving the ship. ITs the directive to accumulate assets.
I’m not defending mills. Records speak for itself. Let’s not even go to the place who did what. Let’s just say “Knicks signed Morris”.....and thats “Knicks got a good return”. Just normal decisions.
Who drove the KP bus? Phil wanted him traded, Dolan nixed it.
Blame Mills for the aftermath, no IM blaming “Knicks”.
I like Perry, but I don’t the directive as much as you do.
PErry does not set the goals of the team. He might execute it better.
Quite calm thanks. Im used to the reflexive defense of Mills by now. Talking about fiscal discipline and practicing it are two different things. Phil talked about it, then went for the quick fix. Signed Noah(a bench player at that point) to a ridiculous deal, still on the books . Mills talked about it, and in that great Knick tradition, also bid against himself.
I've never quite understood the reflex Mills defense syndrome Nalod seems to exhibit. Maybe it's some sort of weird side effect of Phil love?
Anyway, Phil making a million a month to nap while not knowing sheehit about being a franchise Prez and then talking about fiscal discipline is not only different from practicing fiscal discipline, it's also hilarious.
Its ignorant.
I been defending them for years. BLame Layden for Mcdyess, like he had to power to take on that money. Isiah got blame cuz he took on Marbury when Layden pushed back. Walsh gets blamed for Amare/Melo, etc etc. Phil gets blamed as if the knicks did not suck before he walked in. He deserves blame for not making it bettter, but then we learned he gets canned for wanting to move KP before he broke. MIlls? I blame circumstance not him personally. KP broke. Bad luck.
Let’s start this now. Leon in charge, Knicks suck. He to blame? How long we give him?
