JROD, Chime in as a Melo uberfan. Im not being snarky but do you want him back? Does it tarnish his career if he is off the bench? Does Melo look to play with a contender or cellar dweller as did Vince Carter?
Does he have the "Stature" of a fairwell tour or a lightening rod to attract negativity? Is this a "retire his number" kind of thing?
No idea Nalod. Would I want him back? Why not at this point? Sure. Another topic to add to the KP trade/Frankie/NeonLeon threads.
Tarnish his career to come off the bench? What would coming off the bench do to the amount of tarnish he already has, never having won a chip? He won 50 games here, he got to the playoffs here, he scored here, he got paid here. He left. He's still HOF. Ewing got caught getting his wick wet with strippers. Was he tarnished?
Does he want a fairwell tour? Does he want the jersey in the rafters? Don't know. I'd want BK's jersey there too then.
I agree on the BK rafter take. I like the knicks have not made concessions on that. I love BK but he was here like 2.5 seasons.
Fat Ewing in a Sonics jersey was not a good look. Wish he went out more graceful. What made him uncompromising was the very thing that drove him to greatness.
I like what he is doing on Portland and hope they make a playoff run. If he goes to the bench he should go to LA and maybe win one? If this virus gets bad maybe he will go to Tokayo?
Agree about Ewing, but this franchise (and most of the league) rarely lets the hometowners leave gracefully, unless they just leave on their own. I get it, business is business. Clyde ending his career in Cleveland was one of the worst Knicks memories I had as a kid... Yeah, Jrod had a good childhood.
Melo finally playing with a nice starting 5, if phenom Dillard can come back. Wonder what will happen to his playing time if Nurkik and Collins come back before the playoffs? If nothing else, it looks like Melo's starting to learn to defer. Only because with that backcourt, he has to.
That Portland bench is really bad, for the most part. Not built for the playoffs. You can't go to war only 6 deep.
Don't see the LeBoatBro signing off on Melo for the bench. I could possibly see Melo on the bench somewhere next season, but not in LA. Too much ego in the room.
Not sure what you mean about the Olympics. Then, not sure about alot of what NALOD posts.
Virus is already bad in Tokyo. I obviously could be wrong, but I think we've seen the last of OlympicMelo, whether he wants to go or not. I thought he didn't even get a sniff for the national team?
