We thought he would be one of the top 5 guys in the league, the next Dirk. He's not close to that. He can still grow but he can also just stay a guy who gets 19 ppg. Nothing to cry about if he doesn't end up being a superstar.

Disagree with this. KP at same age, has a lot more potential and will be a star.

That said, feel this is just another example how the Kicks. NY fan base will never be able to develop a draft pick. Don't have the patience nor the commitment to growth. KP was just another example of how the Knicks **** things up and how NY will spit you out the second the dial staggers. Feel that KP would have left even if he had not gotten hurt.

he would have never left if Mills was comitted to winning instead of tanking..

All kp and his brother ever said is show me you are committed to a winning program, show us progress, and were all in.

Mills did the complete opposite..

Meanwhile he missed like 50% of his games he could have played here, I forget the exact %. Not that I’m holding injuries against him. But he should have been focused on showing the Knicks he can produce at a high level for more than a few months (before getting tired) a season. Before he starts making demands and setting expectations.

Deangelo Russell has accomplished more than him since he also has one all star appearance and actually lead a team to the playoffs.

For me, not drafting Donovan Mitchell in 2017 and not drafting SGA in 2018 are bigger mistakes than trading KP- had we drafted one or both of those, maybe KP wouldn't have wanted out (and even if he did at least we'd have some players to build around)

Right up there with those blunders is the complete disaster of the 2019 offseason- I don't even care about not getting KD and Kyrie, our plan b was absolutely atrocious. At the time I assumed they had some sort of master plan as to how the roster would work (such was the awful fit of it), but that turned out to be a complete fantasy. In retrospect it reminded me of that draft where Walsh clearly wanted to draft Curry, but when he was gone decided to go for that bum PF (can't even remember his name!) instead of Holiday, Teague, Ty Lawson etc- it's like there was no depth of though into plan B.

There were a few high quality players available- stars weren't available to us but maybe players, like Bojan Bogdanovic, Malcolm Brogdon. We could have taken on salary for a pick (and still signed Morris and traded him for another pick). We could have kept some space to help out teams at this years trade deadline. Instead we signed Randle for $18mil, Portis for $15mil (jesus! JESUS!), Ellington for $9million, Taj for $9mil, Payton for $8mil- what a joke!

My favourite offseason move would have been to take Bertans from the Spurs as a salary dump so they could sign Marcus Morris, and then turn round and sign Marcus Morris- ha!
