Michael Jordan is from NC and Kobe grew up in Italy. I wouldn't link a player's mentality to where he grew up. The development hasn't been as good as I would liked. So far there are some similarities. Hiring a guy that has no experience in the job he will be doing. Possibly putting an msg lifer in place as second in command. Possibly choosing a coach because you have a relationship with him and not because he is the most qualified. Houston getting the gm job and Thibs getting the coaching job would be business as usual for the Knicks. Right now Houston and Thibs are just rumored to be getting those positions. Berman also said Houst had already been promoted so maybe there is nothing to it. I don’t think it’s a stretch to worry that it will be business as usual. Let’s hope this time things are different.

A coach that has had NBA success is what we haven't had since MDA, and did people shut him down when he flopped in NY and LA.

Thibs has and Identity coming in, and the roster has a whole lot of flexibility to bring in players that fit his style.

Thibs system turned Rose into a MVP, so you never know what it can do for DSJ

Did you just compare Derrick Rose and DSJ? You can argue that Rose now, bad knees and all, is still more athletic than DSJ.

No i did not compare the 2. I'm saying Thibs was able to level up D rose to MVP status in his system, and im sure he can help DSJ (maybe not MVP) but a much better player than he is now.

At the risk of sounding like I hate Frank.(Which happens every time I post reality/Stats) He has hit 13 out of his last 50 3pt shots over the last 21 game span. He has posted 5 or less points, with a couple of zero point games 7 out of his last 13 games, shooting 36% from the field in that span. Despite all the claims he is getting better he is on path to replicate his first two years. As for how awful Smith is. Yes he has had a terrible year. But let's not forget what you two seem to have amnesia about. Smith averaged close to 14.5 and 5 with Dallas. He comes here gets hurt, loses his step mom. Also heard Clyde mention that the Knicks had worked with Smith to be more of a half court PG and to slow down and run the offense. Seems questionable to slow down an explosive PG but okay guess its to give our best player (Randle) the ball down low. We know how much everyone agrees with giving Rnadle the ball. Clyde Also appropriately mentioned how hard that must be. Still, Smith has had a bad year. Players have to perform in this business regardless of the challenges. But yeah, he finally has his best game of the year and the jackals jump all over him for not reacting a certain way when he is thrown to the floor and ignore any potential his 2 prior years showed. I root for him because he's a Knick. I don't like his attitude or his game -- even if he continues to put up stats. I can't think of a single player on this team who benefits from DSJ's game which is supposed to be a pg's primary goal

Opinions are fair game. Respect it. Understand the lunch pail admiration for Frank. Like it myself. What I don't understand is the hate for a kid that is 22 and has this type of potential. In terms of what is winning basketball, I disagree with your opinion of what is more helpful to winning in TODAYS NBA. Mine is that a guy like DSJR is a guy that will benefit more, if developed, then a guy like Frank. If this was the 70's, 80's and 90's I would agree. Also feel the Smith will go on to be a high level player somewhere else. And unfortunately, I think Frank will be just another good role player aka Ron Baker, Jeremy Lin, Jared Jeffries. The kind of guys Knick fans love but prove to not be very good in today's NBA.

I hope your right. Only a player as talented as Rose could survive in that Bulls system. A lot of iso and the benefit of having a center who passed like a guard. It was ugly. The Minnesota system seemed more fluid.

But skills alone doesn't work in the NBA. He's clearly missing something or distracted. Some days, he looks like he belongs in the G league. Other days, he looks like a player with potential.

Deciding between him and Frank is tough to me, because they are so different. Personally, I would rather have Frank because Frank can play 3 positions and he doesn't come with an ego. DSJ comes with entitlement. He doesn't like coming off the bench and prefer to be a starter. His basketball IQ seems to be lower than Frank, from a team perspective. But in a play ground, rucker park for example, DSJ would be my easy choice. For an NBA team? I don't fee comfortable with DSJ running the show. His stock has hit rock bottom.

The Jackals have returned. With the kid finally getting a start he puts up 15 pts. 5 Assists, 7 Rebounds and 7 STEALS. Stats that, if Frank would have posted, many on here would have used to replace their Viagra for the next three months. But being the "TRUE" Knicks fans your bringing up how Harden fouled him by throwing him to the ground and you did not like how he reacted? Timeless. GTHOH!

At the risk of sounding like I hate Frank.(Which happens every time I post reality/Stats) He has hit 13 out of his last 50 3pt shots over the last 21 game span. He has posted 5 or less points, with a couple of zero point games 7 out of his last 13 games, shooting 36% from the field in that span. Despite all the claims he is getting better he is on path to replicate his first two years. As for how awful Smith is. Yes he has had a terrible year. But let's not forget what you two seem to have amnesia about. Smith averaged close to 14.5 and 5 with Dallas. He comes here gets hurt, loses his step mom. Also heard Clyde mention that the Knicks had worked with Smith to be more of a half court PG and to slow down and run the offense. Seems questionable to slow down an explosive PG but okay guess its to give our best player (Randle) the ball down low. We know how much everyone agrees with giving Rnadle the ball. Clyde Also appropriately mentioned how hard that must be. Still, Smith has had a bad year. Players have to perform in this business regardless of the challenges. But yeah, he finally has his best game of the year and the jackals jump all over him for not reacting a certain way when he is thrown to the floor and ignore any potential his 2 prior years showed. Seems fair. And people wonder why this city can't develop anyone and why unicorns decide to leave.

Did you read my posts? Or is your vision blurred every time I post any of Franks lack luster stats? I said the only reason Frank comes into the conversation is because the same guys (You) that take every opportunity to put Smith down (Chiming in on how you agree that you did not like how he reacted on the floor) are the same ones that have a spasm any time Frank steals a ball but yet goes 0 for 8 from the field.

As for you attempt to deflect.

Smith season is going badly. He had a back injury first week of the season. Mom passed away. His shot seems broken and confidence level at all time low. He is also having trouble figuring out a new system with new guys.
Smith future with the Knicks depends on who they bring in, what type of system they want to run and who the players signed are. If you get a guy that wants to run and gets rid of guys like Randle, Smith will be here.
Very confident that Smith Jr. will move past struggles. In case you missed the game against Houston he looked more athletic than any of our Point guards have looked all year.
