Players don't really respect substitute teachers, hell..most kids don't either..
1248 the professional......
Are you kidding?
This guy:
In 2012–13, Miller was an assistant at UC Riverside.[2] In 2012, he was dismissed as head coach of Eastern Illinois.[3] He was previously the head coach at Texas State University–San Marcos, and was an assistant at Kansas State[4] from 2000 to 2005. In October 2013, Miller was named an assistant coach at the Austin Toros.[5]
On October 7, 2015, the Westchester Knicks hired him to be their head coach.[6] While with the Knicks, Miller won the NBA G League Coach of the Year for the 2017–18 season.[7] After four seasons in Westchester, Miller was promoted to the New York Knicks as an assistant coach.
Miller was named the Knicks interim head coach on December 6, 2019.[9
This guy in 7 years at Eastern Fooking Illinois where he has a .366 winning %, gets an assistant gig with Spurs, gets a head job with Westchester where he ascents to COY, then promoted to the "Show", and now an NBA head coach with cred. Feel sorry for him? As for anything we read today the team would like to keep him on if they hire Thibs. Since neither of us were in the room when he was hired, I would guess he was given no assurances he'd be kept on, but he does have a contract that might pay him a guarantee, and he has done nothing but earn respect and build a solid reputation.
This is not like he was made "Interim assistant manager at Taco Bell", he is an NBA coach!!!
He will get paid to speak, guest at camps, and likely another NBA assistant coaching job but with a raise if knicks don't keep him.
Feel sorry for him?
