Games like this are a great opportunity for Fizdale to try some new faces on the floor. We aren't expected to win so this is the place to do it.

Here's where Iggy, Trier, Knox, and whoever else needs some burn can go out and strut their stuff.

potential UFA target for you guys. fred working himself into a huge pay day - especially with such a weak FA class next summer.

Fred is excellent role player and then some. A sort of "patty Mills", good player on a good team. We are not a good team.
We have RJ and he is not there and might not be for a while. I like fred, But not for us at this time.
Lowry got extended for 30 mil. What was the reasoning behind that? Kyle is a great Raptor, but really?
You like Fred, why not keep him?

my guess is that we surveyed the 2020 summer free agent class and saw nothing but duds. so we re-sign kyle for 1 year (he's still really good) and we most likely re-sign fred. i think our plan is to keep cap space for summer 2021 to see if we can get giannis.

i think fred is kyle part 2 in the making. he's a built winner like kyle and he's a leader. the only question is what is his value. if he's in the 25-30 mil range, do we keep him? i don't know the answer to that.

as for your comment about "not for us at this time" doesn't make sense to me. you need to change culture and bring in winners. fred is one. the other folks you signed this past summer are not.

I'd say Taj and Mook have been proven contributors in winning situations. The others...I can't really defend like that. But they're all hard workers!

taj has a history of winning but he's a non-factor on the court to lead a team there. that's kind of like saying malik rose was a leader during the marbury years.

and no morris twin is a leader. didn't he throw a towel in hornacek's face? him and his bro are crackheads!

so the last 3 knicks lottery picks are all out for wednesday? that sucks.

i'm having a tough time projecting rj barrett. i haven't see enough of him to see what he can become in this league. i think knox is kinda soft and would peak as a terrence ross type of player - but ross was much better than him at this point as well. he looks confused and scared which is not a good combo - especially in ny and on the knicks.

frank is such a weird situation. elite defense but putrid offense. don't have to really guard him which makes the team easier to guard if legitimately scouted. at this point, i project his impact - if he develops a consistent 3, to be that of marcus smart. not a lead guard or starter but a 3rd/4th guy that can have a defensive impact in the right situation. he has a long way to go on offense and it's his 3rd year already despite his age and you usually know what a player brings to the table by then.

it really is a shame that these young players haven't been put in good player development situations.

this is gonna sound a little whacky to some of you but i think the knicks should go get chris paul and utilize him as a player coach who's sole purpose is to develop these young kids on and off the court. there's wont be any win expectations but he would lift the play of many guys.

Disagree about Morris. Every guy that covered the Celtics last year that I have listened to has talked about Morris’s leadership and professionalism. Fiz has been saying the same things. Also, Taj is a lot more than Malik. RJ has a tremendous work ethic, never gets down on himself and has great court vision. RJ did not have that great of a summer league. He looked like a different player by the time the preseason started. Frank is complex but improving. DSJ is looking better but doesn’t seem to be in great shape yet. Knox started off well but has faltered. Still just 20.

Giannis to Toronto? su might've left the knicks behind, but he hasn't left star-lust behind.
You got Kawhi by trade. Not free agent signing. When he had a chance to sign, he bolted.

i don't expect it. i'm just saying what i think masai is trying to do. giannis most likely will leave milwaukee tho - just don't know where. besides, if he does come, he would be playing robin to siakam :)

I don't know that you can say we're guarding the paint if other teams know they can get great 3pt looks. That is a better option, so, yeah, continue to try to fool yourself.

He's talking specifically about defending the paint, not overall.

start contrast to the raptors who run players off the 3 point line. you'll see alot of our defenders run with the hand up and jump at guys at the 3 to make them put it on the floor and attack the paint. but our defense has alot of versatile guys that quickly switch and recover.

i hate these games before holidays. it's one of those asterisk schedule games...like the last game of a long road trip or the first game back after a west coast trip.

Give Fiz credit. He found a positive stat that we're actually higher than 20th in the league at.
