Let me understand one thing, are you suggesting that we keep Kurt even if the opportunity to trade for Kandi presents? If so, what will happen with Sweetney, JYD, Vinny, and Naser??????

Why not just play Kurt at C? He played very well there when he started at C a couple seasons ago. Kurt may be undersized, but he is tough and he is consistant.
I would not be against this trade, but you are beginning to sound like we're lottery bound if this trade doesn't happen.

personally i don't much like the Booth idea...unless of course you were getting SEA to give up their lottery pick in the deal, which of course they are not doing...i'd rather keep KT than add Booth.

my idea to trade KT & Moochie for Alan Henderson & Mbenga at least gets us a tradeable asset in the form of an expiring deal...Mbenga isn't a great prospect or anything, but who knows? maybe he can turn out to be a Keon Clark type player w/o the off the court issues? that would just be a bonus...but even if that didn't happen, i'd still do the trade to free up the minutes at PF & to get Moochie off this team & have something we can use in a trade at the allstar break when teams are looking to dump salary.

That's not horrible. An expiring contract for Kurt would be good. But remember, an expiring contract IS very valuable. Can Kurt even get us that? I don't hate the idea of starting Sweets and Nazr and bringing Kurt off the bench.

not even sure it would to be honest...but that's the type of trade i'd be looking at...i wouldn't trade KT to get an inferior player who's signed to a multi-year contract unless we had some other bonus we could possibly get out of the deal, like the potential for an Olowokandi, or the value of the expiring deal...a deal of KT for Booth doesn't make much sense to me.

I think Isiah signed him because he wanted to send the message that if you play hard for the Knicks your going to get paid.

so true. and which was the right thing to do. KT deserved to get apid, and i'm glad IT did it.

lol...i'm 0 for 2 today w/the mispelling & now this...i knew it wasn't a good idea to skip lunch today.

Booth & DAL's 1st rounder for KT? i would do that trade if offered...

Pavel i hear has a pituitary condition & a tumor that he needs to be treated for...plus, i don't like what his player profile says about him either...we don't need any slow, lumbering stiffs who can't catch a pass or run the floor...at least Bateer is said to be able to shoot from the perimeter.

Booth sucks... no doubt, but he can block shots and nobody else on our roster can.

The problem is KT probably has more value to us than any other team... much like Spree did. If you want to wait until mid season your going to get hurt even more, especially if Sweetney breaks out. Then everyone will know we are pining to move KT.

Our best bet is to showcase him in the preseason. some team is going to need a solid backup frontcourt player. The Lakers are already missing Vlade, the Kings may want to limit Webber's minutes, at least early on, the Sonics have Fortson and Collison and 1/3 of their shots are 3's.

Our biggest problem in a trade is taking a player back. I think our best bet is to just have KT come off the bench for the next 5 years and offer energy, hustle and defense like he did early in his career.

true.

and i actually dont think booth suck "as much" as alot of people think. not the greatest but i would say imo better than what we have at C now. or atleast equal with way better shot blocking.

I'm really starting to wonder if Dallas even wants KT anymore now that they have Dampier. True, they have no backup for Dirk except Henderson. They're thin at PF (Dirk, Henderson) and overloaded at C (Damp, Booth, Bradley and 2 prospects in Mbenga and Pavel) and swingman (Finley, Howard, Daniels, Stackhouse, Wahad)

If they want KT, there are many combinations of trades that could work. The Knicks could use a young C prospect like Pavel or Mbenga to develop. Dallas, by committing to Dampier, wants to win now and dosen't need to carry 2 raw C prospects who won't get any playing time. KT would give them quality frontcourt depth. I would think something could be worked out to send KT there such as:

KT & Moochie for Henderson & Mbenga (or Pavel)
KT for Booth and Mbenga
KT for Bradley and Pavel
KT and Moochie for Stackhouse and Mbenga (or Pavel)

These trades all work money wise and are at least legitimate offers that Dallas would have to consider (unlike Layden constantly trying pawn KT off on them for Walker, Jamison, or Van Exel)

Dallas traded 2 first rounders in the Dampier sign and trade so I don't think a pick is a possibilty at this point. Also of note is that both Mbenga and Pavel already signed contracts and as such can't be traded until December 15th. Therefore, any of these trades wouldn't be able to take place until then.

here's another idea:

KT to HOU for Spoon & an unrestricted 1st round pick

- Spoon has 1 more year remaining on his deal after this season, & he obviously doesn't threaten any minutes being taken away from Sweetney...he can still grab some rebounds for you if you need him to in short spurts, or he can ride the IR all year long if need be...& that 1st round pick could turn into something down the road considering Isiah's keen eye for talent

- JVG would probably love to have KT to add some much needed frontcourt depth & toughness to his team.

Regarding the original trade in this thread (Kurt for Kandi), the only way I could see the Wolves doing this is if they think Kandi has chronic knee problem (in which case I'd be reluctant to take him). Otherwise, they would hold on to their 7' athletic center.

I see/like the logic; I see this trade as enticing for the rockets...

But KT is our best PF right now. Sweetney, yes, eventually. His trade value is low right now.

Let's not do anything hasty. He's the best defensive post player we have right now, and nothing is a lock in the draft, even with a trade up (I assume that's the intention of getting another draft pick).
