Marks tweeted that the second year is not guaranteed and said the Knicks might not pick up the option, sign their free agents and then give Trier their room exception which would be about 4.7 mil. So they didn't necessarily add another salary.

it's pathetic..just goes to show how ridiculous that contract was that he basically gave baker 8 mill, for a month worth of games..

couldn't find a trade for kuz and he was making less than 2 mill, couldn't find a trade for Noah, traded willy for practically nothing, and still can't find a trade for lance or Lee 2 high character players..smh

your pathetic. Knicks find a gem in Trier and you bitch about Baker. You wouldnt know player development if one was growing in your colon now.

I will miss his hustle; he needs to find the shot he appeared to have in college at least according to you tube etc.

personally, hezonja probably deserved the X more.

Baker's NBA career was going to be based on his ability to hit the 3. He shot 27%. That pretty much sums it up. Sorry dude. You only get to swing and miss so many times before someone else gets to come to bat.

Baker earned that contract his rookie year. The money was suprising but the kid played well and Horny loved him.
Last season was a disaster as he started off with a bad ankle. I think fiz has him playing pretty good now and some team should take him for a try. Maybe if Trier didn't pan out it would be a different story for him. Or Mudiay.
NBA is tough bizness. Glad he got paid and I wish him well so long our interests don't conflict with his.

Nice! Though even if they did. It would be a better option then sending him down to the G-league (where another team would be able to sign him?) And then possibly losing him as a FA. All for maybe the chance at netting a big time FA. Basically the opposite of Walsh.

Good point. He was a very hard worker but so are many others that do not get an opportunity. Hopefully he continues to work hard and gets another shot somewhere else.

You need more than hard work to play in the NBA. I always wanted him to succeed, he played defense. But he clearly didn't have the talent level to succeed long term. If the coaches told him to focus on defense only that would be bad coaching. But he has been through multiple coaches

earned 2 years 8 million no fing way. Still one of the dumbest contrcts I've ever seen no one would of paid him anywhere near that

I believe there was rumblings that Cleveland had the hots for him as a Dellavedova replacement. But they still overpaid market value rather than offering what they offer and letting Cleveland beat that. Perry looks to have cleaned up the contract offering phase at least. But he hasn't really been tested with them looking to save cap space for this off season.

Dude was trash, and it was a horrible way to spend 8 mill. Remember the BAKER BAKER thread i started before the season and I told you he will end up getting cut, and some of ya'll were talking it would be mudiay...smh

concern yourself with the people who paid him the money, and look forward to more signings like this.

Always keep in mind this

On September 26, 2013, the New York Knicks announced Mills would be the executive vice president and general manager of the organization.[7]

The yr we miss the playoffs by 1 game and we have had the worst luck ever since...with 1 or 2 occasional bright spots,it's been all bad for those involve...

The dude produces, and has major potential, so even if he does eat into the cap he looks to be well worth it

Not sure what negative impact Baker has on the Knicks... Actually non.
As far as superstition about Mills its just silly.
He may not be a great bbal mind (or any mind for that matter) but who cares.
He brought in great GM and coach and keeps Dolan from getting back into it.
This is all that is needed from the dude.
He is not picking the players just because he has no idea how.

Dude was an end of the rotation guy or fifth guard. Wouldn't call him trash. He's fine for his level on the depth chart. He just looked good because we had Derrick Rose trying to Chuck his way to a new deal.

Baker will find his way onto a contender. His BBIQ and defense will keep him employed as long as he's healthy. He'll coach someday.

Trier is a surprise but he's a second or third option off the bench. We lost BBIQ with the signing.

I also think the tide is turning on FA messiahs. The Knicks have a nice young core. No reason to poison the water with a star-phuck signing. Smart teams are looking at acquiring effective talent rather than the traditional hero ball signing. That's a different chemistry.

Personally, I will miss Baker - he reminded us all of how the Knicks should play rather than how they too often do play.

Phil was not in charge when Baker got his contract. It was Mills who gave him that deal. So clearly he had more fans than Phil.

Mills is awful so not sure if you’re helping your case here.

Baker certainly didn't hurt the Knicks (other than maybe his contract) and I'm sure he was a good dude in the locker room and worked hard in practice. The bottom line is he just wasn't that good on the NBA level. He worked hard and deserved our respect. Other than that he had very little impact from what I could see.
