Handwriting on the wall he will end up a Laker.

Both LBJ and Paul George, along with Ball, Ingram, Randle, etc, would be an interesting team. Wade won't be able to get another long contract, so he might sign for cheap. Melo and Paul would likely try to squeeze under the Over 38 Rule and sign with someone else.

Nike and the league administration would also see the raw profit in it.

well, can the lakers get severely penalized if they are found guilty of tampering with George? I know it is hard to prove but the pacers wouldn't file it if there weren't some validity to it. if that happens, then that plan could be blown to bits. I don't think LeBron would go to the knicks anyway. the only intriguing aspect is playing with kp ( maybe melo if we decide to keep him) and the garden. the cap room is destroyed anyway.

I saw that there are people (including Screamin A) that think that the tampering is BS. I think that's ridiculous. The Lakers traded the former #2 overall (albeit a disappointing one) for basically a salary dump. You can't tell me that the Lakers would rather have Brook Lopez than Paul George. Similarly, I'm pretty sure the Pacers would rather of had a package built around Russell. The only way the Lakers prefer using Russell to dump Mozgov is if they know that Paul George is coming via UFA

People always forget about Kareem who has 6...yet is rarely mentioned with Jordan for the GOAT title...

In my opinion.... If he comes to ny and they win a chip, he would hands down be the greatest player to ever play. The new York factor, especially since we've been the laughing stock so long would put LeBron in a class buy himself

Very true, IF he gets 6 chips. But he gotta get 6+ to supplant MJ.

GOAT? I don't think so; his Finals batting average would still suck, even if he wins 6+. MJ only won. Russ won so many fuhuqcking times, one loss doesn't count.

Outside of Dallas, Lebrons teams lost to the better teams....The Bulls beat teams they were supposed to to beat..Also, getting your teams to the finals should count for something...if Lebron's teams bowed out in the first round in the yrs he lost in the finals, his record in finals wont look so bad...So, is it bettter to lose in the first round like Kobe, or lose in the finals?

while I don't think LBJ is the GOAT, this often goes unnoticed... he has been the underdog in six of his eight Finals appearances. So a legitimate argument could be made that he has exceeded expectations in the Finals...

So we're going to change GOAT to Greatest Player to Possibly Lead Lesser Teams to Losing in the Finals? Great players win when it counts. Maybe we can start a "how to tank in the playoffs to protect your legacy" thread? How great were the careers and Finals records of all those other Bulls that played with MJ? Migraine Scottie and Toni Who? Did the Worm win a WWF trophy?, I forget...

The greatest is now the greatest because they lost to the better teams. Check.

If Lebron made a career out of quitting in the playoffs like he did against the Celts that one year in Cle, you're right, maybe his Finals record would be perfect... SMH

I've never understood the incessant ball licking of a great player who also quits, flops and "Decides"... Is LeQ great? No effing doubt, and before Nalod goes off on a Jrod rant, Melo isn't at the level of being allowed to suck the sweat out of LeQ's washing machine. No contest there. But LeQ is the GOAT? I don't get it, and never have, in my obviously humble opinion.

Bill Russell won every single game 7 he played in. Every. Single. One.
MJ would kill you, your mother, your kids and your dogs and cats to win. And that was just at practice.

We talkin bout Kobe? Kobe?

Tired of hoping for someone to come play for the Knicks..but that being said.. Lebron playing in NYC would be great for him and the Knicks obviously. The play seems to be.. hold on to Melo for this entire season and expect him to opt into 28 mill. Lebron could do his 1 year with option for a 2nd year. They both can play for the Knicks, at least for one year.

Add in the development of our young guys.. Knicks could make a legitimate run.

Line-up:

G: THJr
F: Lebron
F: Melo
C: KP

That could work. Stranger things have happened. Just look at this off season

He has personnel control on the teams he is on, and he truly sucks at being a de facto GM.

Danny Ferry got spitroasted for LBJ's first Cavs run, but when Ferry went to the Hawks, he did a fantastic job there. Of course he had a free hand to run the team, but in Cleveland, his job was to be LBJ's personal valet.

In his 2nd run with the Cavs, he wanted max money he could get, so the Cavs burned assets to clear money off the deck. Then they traded Wiggins for Love. And they've been trying to trade Love off every since. They gave Tristan Thompson a contract no one understands ( well they understand his agent is Rich Paul, of Klutch Sports, which is LBJ's personal piggy bank) They burned the bank again for Mozgov, because LBJ wanted him. And gave JR Smith too much money because they were out of options.

In Miami, instead of going after a needed center, LBJ used the extra money in his paycut to sign Mike Miller and reup Haslem to a gift contract because he was Wade's buddy and bodyguard. Without Bosh radically changing his game ( will never get the credit he deserves for the way he shifted his game) and Birdman being an amnesty pick up, the Heat win ZERO rings.

LBJ, as a player, ends up going hero ball with his back to the wall because LeDummy, the de facto GM, of his teams, is actually one of the stupidest personnel guys on the entire planet. Such a fantastic player and individual talent, but rock hard dumb in every other way. He gets his butt kissed so much because he sells a ton of Nikes. That's it.

During his first free agency, World Wide Wes had arranged him LBJ to go to the Bulls. And structurally, they would have ripped off a good 3-4 titles straight. In the 2nd wave, he could have easily gone to at team like the Clippers and still got a ton of rings.

He's won a ring in a lockout shortened season. And two more that were basically Nike gifts. I won't take away his elite play as an individual player. The world might never see anyone this good again. But he creates his own messes. The only thing he does consistently is gut and drive his teams into the ground over the long haul. He comes in, he makes stupid changes, then he comes out later and acts like a victim because he can't get "help" on a cap locked roster he created.

I'd love to see a true 30 For 30 where Danny Ferry lets it all loose, along with World Wide Wes, where it's titled "LeDummy : Million Dollar Talent/10 Cent Headcase"

We can only hope that LBJ de facto run as GM continues and that he wants Melo as a result. With Crowder now on the Cavs, and Thompson (and IT), Love becomes expendable in a 3 way deal with Portland bringing the Cav pick to NY and Harkless plus. Let us pray that the new GM for Cleveland can't talk Lebron out of having hisnway.

Not so sure that is the case anymore. Dont believe the new GM is a figurehead. They have to plan for a possible post LeBron future as well. Nabbed that first round draft pick for Irving.
