Phew, talked me back from the ledge. Sacramento not exactly the stellar organization we should be recreating.

I was thinking the same thing. Of all the organizations, Sac might be worse run than NY. Glad to see it has nothing to do with Perry.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Maybe Perry will be here in time to help out with the Melo trade, would be nice to have another voice in the conversation. A relative outsider.

Does make a bit more sense as to why the Melo deal has not been completed, or why Steve Mills wasn't there to introduce THJr

It sounds good, but it's a little soon to tell for sure. Color me hopeful.

I have no problem if it's only cash. Dolan has plenty of it.

The Pistons(08-12) and Magic(12-17) runs aren't a good look on his resume though. 9 years of poor records, resigned and fired(though they cleaned house for new leadership group) his last 2 spots before going to the Kings.

Need to see how if compliments the staff. Wonder what he specializes in?

Good point. I would feel a lot better if Perry were involved in the process.

Cant speak to the Pistons, but the Magic made a decision a while back to either go the Knicks usual route and stick with mostly overpaid, older vets, on cap killing deals. 1st round exits if lucky, or do a total rebuild. They went for the rebuild, hence their record.

I believe their problem might in part have been that they didnt gradually bring back enough decent vets to compete. We know the Knicks will do their share of trying to make a splash in free agency whenever possible, so that probably wont be an issue. Hopefully the right FAs will be targeted to compliment the yoots.

Scott Perry reportedly reached an agreement with the New York Knicks to take over as their general manager, CSN Chicago's Vincent Goodwill reported Thursday.

Perry is currently the Sacramento Kings' executive vice president of basketball operations. USA Today's Sam Amick reported the Kings were negotiating possible cash compensation in return for allowing Perry to take the post.

While Perry was only hired by the Kings in April, his work with the team has received almost universal praise:

Prior to arriving in Sacramento, Perry also had front-office roles with the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Seattle Supersonics.

Perry will now take on what is one of the most difficult rebuilding jobs in the NBA.

Sorting out Carmelo Anthony's future will be one of his first orders of business. ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday the Knicks were talking with the Houston Rockets about a potential trade involving the 10-time All-Star.

After resolving that issue, Perry will have to undo a lot of the damage wrought by the previous regime, as well as work around the four-year, $71 million deal New York offered Tim Hardaway Jr. BasketballInsiders.com's Tommy Beer illustrated the difficulty of the Knicks' current circumstances:

One of the most attractive aspects of the Knicks job for potential GM candidates was cap space this summer and beyond. That may be gone…

Hardaway Jr. & Noah would account for > 35% of the Knicks cap thru 2020. Think about that for a sec. Difficult to build a complete roster…

The Hardaway contract erased some of the optimism fans had felt following Phil Jackson's departure as president of basketball operations.

Perry's hiring should bring stability to the Knicks' front office as the franchise looks to build a roster capable of competing for a title.

Yea the Magic post Dwight. I actually like the ideas around Payton and Gordan. They brought defense and utility skills. Herzonia was supposed to be that go to scoring piece the complimented them it made sense. They did good on that Fournier deal I believe. Thought they got fleeced on the Ibaka deal though. Rob Hennigan was the main man in charge in Orlando.

Yeah.... because that's been working so well

If anything, this brings Mills closer to the exit,he'll have to sign off on every move., or he could look like a genius
