I think mostly it means they just resigned Baker and wanted to let everyone know.

This sound about right

26% 3pt shooting
37% fg shooting

Gets you 9 million dollars

Also, in comparison, Shelvin Mack--a proven veteran backup pg--got 2 yrs 12 million.

New Math!!!! Its a different world now.

He played good defense and the team was better with him than Rose on the floor. But you're right that he can't shoot.
Baker wont be confused with Steph Curry, but in 4 years of college he never shot below 35% from 3 and averaged .369
Think that translates to 26% in the NBA?

I'm thinking he's a better shooter than he showed us last year...but we will see.

This is Lance Thomas good guy contract. The Knicks could've bought a guard in the draft for less. Why waste money?

I find this a good thing. No chance of Rose. I wouldn't mind Rondo on a 1 year, but he's a big risk anyway.

Baker, FrankN will get lots of playing time.

And you think either will can avg anywhwre near 30 min, or play 82 games. Not to mention there is. Single player on the roster to teach them anything about the position. They're must be somebody coming in that melo trade

They desperately wanted Ron back and overpaid on a short term contract instead of being forced to match an offer sheet which might have 4 years long and very expensive - didn't want to take that rosk..

This tweet still hit me strange, perhaps it's an innocuous wording of the last sentence but...

they have less than $1.5 million in cap space left & still need a veteran PG

That's Ian's opinion... that the Knicks NEED a vet PG. Usually reporters tell it differently: " $1.5M in cap space left and Knicks still would like a vet PG.

Strange.

Thanks for looking this up. I was wondering because I thought I had remembered that Baker was a good shooter in college.

There is nothing in his form that suggests that he should be 25%. Let's face it, NY did not get many great open looks for their guards. I have a feeling that Jeff's "re-worked" offense will be a bit more fluid for the guards. I think Baker can hit the open 3 consistently.

As others have said, he defends well (full court) and gets players involved.

The other thing that many are discounting is that when Melo is dumped, the players remaining here will take ownership of this team. Baker, Jr, KP, Willy, KOQ, Dotson, Harkless (assuming he comes in), ....this will be their team. Each of them plays with heart and hustle. The team chemistry will be improved. The team identity will be totally new. This may take awhile to manifest into wins but to me, the culture is moving in the right direction.

Can they get some cap space back too? For example, a player with a non-guarenteed contract, who they can simply waive. I thought houston had or was looking for those type of contracts. That could open some more space too.

I'm starting to think mills negotiated the Noah deal and Melos contract

Yeah,..these moves fall in line with what we've been doing since signing Jr smiths brother..no back up for Tyson, and now we sign a back up before getting a starting pg..

with Lee, THJr, Dotson on team.... I think that's an easy Baker answer.

Knicks fans when talking about unnamed draft picks: "We have to keep and acquire picks and develop our own young core."

Knicks fans when talking about a second year player who struggled his rookie year: "He sucks, I don't know what people see in him."

I'm not a big holiday guy but I would keep him and trade Lee of possible or would have tried to work a S&T with the captors for Joseph. Oh well, the Knicks are who they are.

Dotson is a 2nd rd pick that never played in the nba. Baker looked okay in Orlando and played like crap offensively.
