Was wondering why some writers were insisting that Melo and Hardaway couldn't coexist. Melo was sorry to see him go. I believe THJ really yelled at Melo once as teammates during a game, and he brushed it off. Some older vets (all-stars) would have taken it more personally.

Now that its clear who would be engineering the mega deal to get Melo traded, Id rather wait until he opts out and all that sweet cap room appears. Dont want to watch the team pass that date with retreads we took back to get rid of him. Doesn't make any sense.

I get some folks arent fans, Im in that camp occasionally. But if its a choice between a bad deal and no deal at all, I will take the latter. Didn't want Melo to re-up under those terms, but I dont want to watch the Knicks shoot themselves in the foot to get rid of him either.

Well of course Timmy said he'd love to play with Melo, what do you think he's gonna say? It could be true as well but i'm sure he's gonna be happy with all the extra touches/shots he's gonna get without Melo on the team. I love Melo and always have but it's time to move on without Melo and start letting this young team grow. In two years this team should be playing well enough to make a 6th,7th or 8th seed in the weak east and when we start winning and KP is balling as our #1 option and these other youngsters like THJ, Willy, Frank, D.Dotson are looking like legit players is when the bigger name free agents will once again look at the Knicks as a good destination and playing in the Garden once again is where players wanna play. The 2019 free agency is strong and we should have a good amount of cap room to sign one or two bigger name free agents. We'll still have Noah and C.Lee with one year left on their deals and could probably find a team to take on either contract if we wanted to. Mills should be looking at 2019 right now as the year we can take a big step forward.

Still goes back to who will be deciding which players will be signed with the cap room the Knicks get if Melo opts out.

Smart post. Cue Meloshouldgo.

If we keep him until the trade deadline, we will increase his value. Imo. As playoff teams know he will probably opt out or only have him on the books for playoff run and 1 more year. May also be a reason for him to expand his list of teams to go to. As he can opt out the last year.

But to answer thread topic. Thjr. Was signed to give KP protection from double teams.
