Hernangomez - 22 and improving. Nice post game. Great rebounder. Has touch. Good screens.
Porzingis - 21 and improving Great talent. Needs to pass and shoot. Take better shots.
Melo - Top 25 player in the league See KP.
CLee - Good shooter, can score off the dribble and defend a bit.
Ntilikina - Youngest player in the league right now and has much better PG instincts and defense than DRose

If we had a decent bench, and Melo/KP teamed up to be leaders and guys that passed the ball (instead of just chucking), this team would be a real playoff threat.

The real cost of keeping Melo/KP together is that you lose the top 5 lottery position. You are likely to draft between 10-18 next year depending on how well it goes.

Talent wise, our starting 5 as of today is better than most realize. It has potential to improve considerably with Willy, KP and Nti having an average age of 20.5 right now.

Its the off season and Im in agreement with this roster. Not as bad as we think. Not that good.
I'd pencil in Ntilikina until we come up with a role player. Jose Just signed with Lakers to teach Ball. Funny right?

This season has to be about the kids. Melo must go. We get to Lottery again.
If not its because KP's unicorn got hard and he learned to fly!
Willy is top wingman and Frank is good. not great, but good. Let the Tony Parker comparisons start.
Speaking of such, can we bring in Tony for frank? No starphuch or expectations, just teach the kid the ropes for a year or two.
Culture building.
Rinse, lather, rinse, repeat.

Jose signed with the Cavs...also, since when did Willy play on the wing?

I would throw Dotson in the deep end of the pool myself but I can understand if they don't.

I'm high on the KP-Willy Frontcourt than some. I think they work fine as long as you have a SF with more range out there instead of Melo. You need great range and lateral quickness at PG, SG and SF so that you aren't stretching KP and Willy too far.

I think they definitely would like to put a veteran PG on the team to show Frank the way but it's just hard to get one with their situation right now. I also think they have something in the works that they're waiting to happen which is most likely a trade before they spend money in free agency. It could be they're waiting on the Melo thing to go down or they could be trying to trade C.Lee to create more cap space or maybe they're talking with Milwaukee trying to figure out a sign and trade for D.Rose or they could be looking at ways to take on a contract from a team trying to create cap space and getting something from that team to do it. Something is in the works though IMO.

Really? This team will be lucky to win 30 games. We have the slowest frontcourt in the NBA

You know there's one thing about KP that makes him special is that he's able to play both 5 and 4 almost equally effective.
Melo is better at the 4.
So why if that's the case (too slow) can't we say go a bit smaller and go with KP/Melo starting with 3 guards?
Willy comes in as a 6th man, first off the bench for Melo or KP.

Porzingis/Melo/Thomas/Lee/Ntilikina. Good active defense with Ntilikina, Thomas, Porzingis at the 5, Lee.
Bring Willy off the bench for some scoring there, we need it on the second unit. Baker comes in early when Nti struggles and looks like a rook.

In this scenario NY would definitely benefit if NY landed Simmons as Simmons would get Lee's starting spot, allowing Lee to stabalize the second unit along with Willy.

Leave Nalod alone. He apparently got shampoo in his eyes...
Willy on the wing... with that lateral movement, even I could get an uncontested three off without a screen..

Well, if you think about it, we only lost Rose and Holiday. Baker, KP, and Willy should all be better. Frank and Dotson should help add defense by mid-season after they get 15-20 games under their belt. We no longer have to run an offense that the players hated. If Thomas staying healthy I think we will win 5-8 more games than last year and just miss the playoffs with a punchers chance of sliding in.

I think that if we add a competent PG we will make the playoffs. But there aren't that many left.
