Some speculation on twitter that the Knicks might make a run at Lowry if Ujiri is running things.

Do you think the next guy that comes in is going to build prudently and not do what it takes to surround Melo with a team that can make the playoffs NOW? AKA selling our young talent and future draft picks.

It is and always be a players league. I don't see Melo as the villain cause Phil did it to himself with his actions. Cryptic quotes and out in out degrading his players.

I am not opposed to this and it is the most logical choice. enough of the celebrity hires. they don't work. we need an efficient president that has a plan and a course. the next person must show stability and a person we can trust in the long run. ujiri is that person.

The NBA is controlled by the owners. They seem to be fixing it's failing franchises one at a time, both the dysfunctional ones and the unprifitable ones. Looks like Boston is back on track to winning, LAL are moving inthe right direction as well as Sac and Philly. I think the league is stepping in to fix the media disaster that is the Knicks. I wouldn't put this on Melo or KP. It must have been bigger then two players to get Dolan to shift gears. I am finally optimistic that this rebuild will finally go our way. Our luck is about to change Knicks fans

Ujiri has been the architect of Dolans pain. He Schtupped Knicks with Melo trade and Bargnani trade. Ever have a prostate exam? It hurts. Funny thing when doctor pulls his finger out it feels better.
Is that because the paid is no longer, or the actual finger sliding out actually feel good?

Ujiri still has his dick up Dolans arse and hiring him will fell good.
Signed an extension in Sept of 16' with TWO years left on his deal. Unless Toronto wants to go in a different direction, how does this happen?
Dolan obviously been thinking of this for some time as he has advisors and names already leaked?

Nalod contains when he obstructed Melos buy out, Phil told him to fire him. They long had an understanding that when dolan does he is out.
Thats how bad it is, when Dolan has to step in......

Ujiri is OK. His record is not squeeky clean. He almost trade Lowry to us for Shump etc in that stupid trade we shot down. He gave Carroll $15mm a year for 4 years, he's got a bunch of warts if you look. There is a some good old luck that has helped him.

Dumars built that Piston's title team. But also drafted Darko and signed guys like Josh Smith. I mean its really tough to just say one guy is safe over another.

I hope you his stays as speculation. The timetable is all wrong for a Lowry signing. I'd still prefer it over Rose.

Ujiris best moves have been trades for future assets. In thats aspect he can be great for us and this rebuild. His draft record isn't all that though. I don't see him building a contender through the draft. Don't know if Gaines is going to stick around. FA wise he goes after WS48. We really need JH take his coaching to another level.

Does no one read around here?

"While we are currently evaluating how best to move forward regarding the leadership of the organization, I will not be involved in the operation of the team," continued Mr. Dolan. "Steve Mills, the team’s general manager, will run the day-to-day business of the organization over the short term. Tim Leiweke, who brings tremendous expertise and experience in sports franchise management from both Toronto and Los Angeles and is our partner in the Oak View Group, will advise and work with Steve on an interim basis to help develop a go-forward plan."

leiweke joined the raptors in 03/04. he came from LA where he brought the kings to a championship. his first move was to bring phil jackson to toronto but phil was still holding out for a seattle expansion. he fired colangelo and colangelo recommended ujiri (who was previously the assistant gm in toronto before denver). ujiri comes aboard and leiweke leaves the following season. the rest is history.

http://global.nba.com/news/raptors-sign-president-masai-ujiri-to-multi-year-contract-extension/

not sure how many years the extension was for but if you want him, fork over unprotected 2018 and swap in 19. ujiri is as good as it gets.

I don't know why he's considered special.
The Raptors have made move after move and what's the end result?
They're not even close to being on the level of Cleveland or Boston and they may lose two high investments this summer in Lowry and Ibaka for nothing.

He made that big Ibaka trade, and what?

Sorry. I prefer Griffin. But I know Dolan liked this guy for a while. He was suppsoed to be Phil's replacement this year if Phil went to LA which Phil didn't do.

he will change the entire culture of the franchise and make it a respected organization. but i don't see how he would want to work for the disfunction that is dolan.

Popovich once considered replacing Tony Parker with an aging Jason Kidd. Everybody probably has "almost deals" they're glad they didn't pull the trigger on.
