Would you all be interested in making that type of deal?

I'd probably do that deal. I'd prefer a future #1, but we do need wings. We're thin if Holiday leaves.

I was thinking that as well but I don't see the Raptors relinquishing any future assets to accomodate his salary. But they do have a bevy of young bench players (Norm Powell, Delon Wright, Jakob Poetl, Lucas Noguigero and Bruno Cubuclo) already on the team. Maybe they would come off that 2018 as well, albeit highly protected.

The Suns are supposedly still trying to trade B.Knight and attaching something with him to make it right for the team taking on him and his contract. Now his contract is around 3 more years and around $45 million so that would have him coming off the books with Noah in 3 years. Hornachek knows what this guy has in him since he coached him in Phoenix but he really fell off last year so JH would have a big say in bringing him on but he's had some good seasons in the NBA so i wonder what happened to him last year.

I've been a proponent of having Joseph be the sweetner for accepting Carrol's contract but given Joseph's play in Lowry's stead and how reasonably paid he is, I doubt the Raptors would want to move him. Who do they sign to be his replacement that can offer that production at a similar price? Or do you think Delon Wright is that guy?

Supposedly they are talking to the Pacers about a trade for Joseph. Between Lowry and Ibaka they need to free up money

I may actually be ok with this. I was never a Knight fan, but he is youngish, reteaming him with JH and maybe getting a guy like Williams as the sweetner would be nice (although i gotta be honest, i dont see the use for Williams on our team...as you can probavly guess, i would prefer a package of Knight and Warren.

It does seem that the Pacers are trying to find themselves a PG. Rumors have it that they have interest in George Hill, which I can't understand.

As for the Raptors, I see them needing to free up money. But I do wonder which of those free agents they'd even want to keep around. Ibaka has just agreed to terms with them but they let PJ Tucker walk, who I thought they'd definitely look to keep him having pursued him for so long. I think that what they end up wanting to do with Patrick Patterson will go a long way in determining if they even need to shed some fat.

I'd be okay with Knight being our stopgap at PG. The Suns would need to accomodate us either with a sweetner or take back a bad contract of ours to consummate the deal though. Given their official shift to rebuild, I think they'd be opposed to surrendering any assets and conversely can't see them taking on any of our bsd contracts, which would make a deal tricky.

I do regret the Clippers adding Jerry West to their front office. In light of CP3s and JJ Redick's departure, I could easily have seen them taking a package of Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah in exchange for those non-guaranteed contracts they got in the HOU trade and Jamal Crawford. After all, Courtney Lee is a former player of his- filling a position of need- and Joakim Noah was a former playoff nemesis i.e. types that Doc Rivers has shown an affinity for in the past. But if Jerry West has any say in the matter, I'm sure the matter would be D.O.A.

With the Raptors at the tax line, I would approach them about a trade of lance who is on a relatively cheap deal, for OG. I would even give them a second round pick too.

...that increases their cap by $7 million per year. Why do that if they are already exceeding the luxury tax?

We could take back Corey Joseph and it gives them an experienced SF at a failure low salary. I would even give them a second round pick.

What is the benefit for the Raptors? They are giving up the better player with a shorter contract and a first round pick. Doesn't make sense from their perspective.

The move saves us $19 million long term (by moving Courtney Lee and Lance Thomas)and gives us a nice stopgap PG in Corey Joseph. Seems like a solid move if rebuilding.
