Media nationwide is wicked. You'd think it was Trump not Phil. I'm not big on Frank because he doesn't exude quickness or explosiveness in videos. I think one of as many as 5 players would be preferred and I pray I'm wrong. D Smith, Monk, Markenen, DONOVON all preferred IMO. The obsessiveness with triangle is overblown as there is so much upheaval that Melo won't play it, KP will defer to Melo and Frank N is a 18 year old novice.

That's the direction Phil is taking now and I like it. I hope he stays the course. "Hybrid Triangle" is that like "New and Improved Triangle"? Knicks ranked near the bottom in fast break points, ranked low on efficiency as well. Letting players go to more familiar, yet still effective plays, like the P&R, will help make the team more efficient and increase their comfort level with the offense. You can argue they do all these things in the Hybrid system, but they didn't do it nearly enough last season. |

MVP of the Portsmouth and MVP of Eurocamp. Also, it was just a couple of years ago that Hayes was being called Draymond light by some. He isn't that guy but he definitely is worth a look.

What i think we got out of the draft
Two really good long guards with our first two picks--Im not sure any of these guys are stars but dont have to be--I mean maybe--I really want to see both--especially Frank get good PT in SL --I think playing some free flow and allowing him and DD to shoot some 3's--I think these guys will score. The Euro looks good too--but not in the same category because of his shot. I really think however that we may have the Euro Jeremy Lin here--maybe not as smart as JL--but same explosion and guts. Id like to see him poff the bench and then maybe start 1 game where he gets 30+ minutes

Makes sense. Briggs likes all long shot unknowns that he thinks will turn into the next MJ so that it proves he should be a GM. Lmao. How is Denzel Valentine doing? Stein?. I would pin this thread but everyone who talks a bunch of crap on here quickly magic erases any of their previous positions. Here is my prediction. We will suck for next 5 to 10 years or more. Phil will continue to pick Triangle guys. Frank will be on someones bench or back un France within 5 years. DS Jr. And Monk will help their teams get into the play offs next year. Nix will still be talking about how good the Knicks and Jets will be in the coming year.
Questions: Did we tank to get the next "Curry" or to get a good fit for the Triangle and a good role player? Something we could have picked at 20 to 60? Not saying Frank was not a top 20 pick(potential/draft gurus) but why not trade down to get 2 Triangle picks? As the rest of the NBA seem to prefer high ceiling athletic types who can put ball in the hole. (like Monk and Smith, Curry, Thompson, Irving etc etc) Could see Phil passing on a giveaway trade for Curry because he doesn't play the right way. Don't think Phil is a fan of 28 foot jumpers. WaltLongmire wrote:Frank, Kornet, and Hayes have all been system players who are "mature" in how they play the game. Frank makes the draft, even though we are going to have to watch monk score a lot and just take it. It will be fine as long as frank shows grit and D and the occasional shot. Dotson can shoot and we just have to wait and see if he has anything else. The serbian OJ was hard to watch, maybe it was those uniforms. He's unorthodox and in need of coaching but seems tough. Like lenny dykstra in high tops. The summer league signings are well thought out, smart, mature system guys who have a chance to help the bench. Nigel was only going to make the league through ny, as his game fits what we are trying to do on offense. Personality for days as well and he will thrive in the spotlight. If gets his body right, and a real shot doctor, we may have something. |

Phil went with the best PG defender right now....witb potential to be the best young two way guard in the draft.
Frank will lock Monk up real quick. Monk needs a dynamic pg to play with....i wanted monk because he's instant offense and a highlight reel.....but he doesn't possess all the intangles as frank. And frank is like me.....high IQ baller.....at 18 yrs old. LeBron had similar high IQ at this age......but when u mix in natural physical gifts like instincts and length.....and willingness to learn.....and unselfish. you have a star. Phil didn't pass on ball or Josh jackson.....he passed on players with high bust potential......for a player with low bust potential. and be said it was difficult. I knew monk would be available.....and I wanted him. but I only saw highlights. Monk is streaky like JR smith....and plays the point like JR smith.....plays defense less than JR smith.....and 3-4 inches shorter than JR Smith. welcome frank......we finally got a floor General who can pass....shoot....and defend......only 18 yrs old. Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland.
The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

I really like the jump shot form on both of our two top picks. I think we could be looking at 40% 3 point shooters
Then you ad in the attacking game of the 58 pick and it's a nice diverse set of players-- something we really needed RIP Crushalot😞
