The Knicks had 8 undrafted players on their roster. They had 6 rookies, 5 undrafted and one that was a second round pick. After they waived Jennings they had only 5 players on the team that were first round picks. The Knicks did not have as much talent as the Pacers. The Knicks brought in 10 new players last year and a new coach.
Why go this route when comparing. Willy a 2nd round rookie put up similar numbers to 13 year veteran Al Jefferson. Kuz(27yr old undrafted rookie) who got the 9th most total mins on the Knicks put up the same numbers as 9 year veteran Aron Brooks who had the 9th most mins total on the Pacers. Willy as the 7th most in total mins for the Knicks out played Glenn Robinson who had the 7th most mins on the Pacers. KOQ who had the 8th most in total mins on the Knicks out played Al Jefferson who had the 8th most in total mins on the Pacers.
George, Teague, Turner, Young, Ellis, Miles, Robinson, Jefferson, Brooks, Allen got the bulk of the mins for the Pacers.
Melo, Rose, Porzingis, Lee, Holiday, Jennings, Willy, KOQ, Kuz, Noah, Lance, Baker got the bulk of the mins for the Knicks.
Knicks have more players due to injuries to Noah & Lance pushing up Willy & Kuz mins. As well as us going into tank mode releasing Jennings and shutting down Rose increasing Bakers mins.
Pacers just didn't have anyone of there main talent get injured. But even if we don't count Noah as a contributor. The talent is very much comparable. Their top line talent got it done. Our top line talent didn't.
