Phil can find Ron Bakers anywhere. But those guys while playing hard never move the needle to making teams good.

Those of you who are all in with Phil on the Triangle. If Phil stays on beyond his current contract and we have a Glen Sather situation, how many more seasons would you want him to keep mandating this system, if things more or less stay the same? Do you have a red line? Just asking....

A: Incredible. I’ve been lucky enough to work in all the major sports, and he is the most impressive rookie I have ever covered. He is very talented, but is still so grounded. You can tell he’s a great kid from a great family and he’s just so passionate about the game. He’s also a really thoughtful interview. There’s just an ease and confidence about him that’s beyond his years.
The kid isn't a malcontent but Phil has created a dysfuntional/possibly toxic environment. Recognizing it and wanting it to change doesn't make him a bad kid.

Still should have voiced those concerns at the exit meeting, and reportedly still hasn't responded to the head coach.

This isn't KP coming up with this on his own. Janis and ASM Sports are the ones behind this. Doesn't sound like KP at all from anything we've seen or heard from him. Agents however, are known to do these kinds of things and KP is getting bad advice IMO. None of this is going to change how Phil moves forward. He's locked in and moving forward with his plan. He's still gonna draft who he wants to draft and sign who he wants to sign. KP has no power in that. All he's doing is giving more fodder for the Media to feed on. Phil wants to build a team around Defense, Unselfishness, Ball and Player movement. What's KP got to complain about those things? KP will come back to the team and fall in line. ASM Sports ain't running SHYTE!

Porzingis has spoke about things he hasn't liked all season long. To suggest this didn't come from him is silly. Janis meets with Phil but KP doesn't.

Yes it does.

KP is in no position to be making demands. As a 2nd year player his only responsibility to the team is to be a good soldier, not make or influence management decisions.

For a kid who doesn't like dysfunction, he sure has no problem creating adding to it.

I think you forgot that Janis works for KP and not Phil Jackson. Phil has no leverage on KP, so why should they fall back on anything?

KP will LOSE money without Phil giving him an Early Extension. Why is that in KP's best interests? Phil hasn't done anything to KP!!! Phil is doing his job as he sees it and KP needs to get on his job and work on his body and game! KP's Agents SHOULD NOT be trying to tell Phil what to do!

KP may get better and the team will still be trash under Phil. Then KP walks when he can.

I doubt HIGHLY that the Knicks will be trash! The key will be improvement on Defense and they can certainly achieve that with better defensive talent. That's a stated goal so hopefully they achieve that goal.

KP is not AAU talent, he didn't grow up poor or without fundamentals, he didn't struggle for money, he comes from a winning environment, clearly that's what important to him and if phil want to continue to sacrifice wins for system, this is the type of reaction h's going to get from players that want to win.

Players that are just happy to be on a NBA roster, will always play harder, but will hardly ever be talented enough to have any real impact.

There are no "words" that can fix this dilemma.
We don't know the level of dysfunction that has existed and has lead to Kp's dissatisfaction. Midway thru his rookie season a nice article written about the KP/Melo Bromance and we go with that? Did KP not like being called out for his bail out threes? If he was in SAS, Pop would make him cry weekly. Is KP so bound to Melo that his happiness is tied to his?

Does anyone know the origin to his frustration other than he wants to win and succeed?

In the end, I have no problem with any of this. KP, while out of line is sending a warning to his team to get its shyt together and he wants to be in NY.
If anyone thinks KP is disturbed about Oak/Dolan feud I'l be receptive to any validity to that.

Im going to guess is very much about where KP plays on the court. Is he a 4 or a 5? Is worried about a coaching revolving door? What is the direction of the team? Is asking to be a part of the decision making process? Did LA LA ever invite him over for dinner?

If KP patterned his game from Melo and is more or less wanting a path to the HOF based on a high volume scoring ability over a long period of time then I'd just as soon trade him.
I like KP, and "Porzingod"!! But lets get our facts straight before we bash Phil, or Bash KP.

Melo is a terrible role model to have. We don't want KP learning how to hold the ball, iso, settle for long jumpers and be lazy on D.

KP picked up Melo's willingness to fight with management.

KP also developed an infatuation with instagram girls this season which worries me.

My intuition tells me, yes he is really talented, but he's not going to make it in NY.

My concerns as well. He's not only taking bad advice but acting on it. There is nowhere to hide in NY when things go sour. The MSM will be crawling up his ass in a NY minute.

He's obviously too young and not smart enough to understand the can of worms he's opened and allowed spill. The sooner he puts closure to this communication fiasco the better.

If it persists, IMO trade 'em.

Phil is right to want to get RESISTORS off the team. That attitude that certain vets had was poisonous to the team and KP seemed to pick up the bad attitude. Still Janis and ASM Sports are not advising KP well if they're letting KP keep up this insubordination. How is this good for KP to have strained relations with Jeff???

Phil isn't going to be moved by this stunt. He's going to keep doing his job and building as he feels is right. From what I've seen NOTHING warrants this kind of disrespect from KP or his Agents! KP needs to worry about getting better and not trying to tell Phil how to do his job!!!

It's players league if the player is the top 3 or 4 player in the league. The rest are not in a position to demand anything.

Sure they are. They can walk at a certain time. But no sane organization is going to allow their best young piece to be malcontent for their the tenure. I dont think it's understood how bad of a situation the Knicks are in. If teams called about KP at seasons end, it will be ridiculous on draft night.

Longstaff was one of the few remaining holdovers of Derek Fisher's original staff, but more importantly he developed a connection with multiple current players -- most notably Porzingis -- and went overseas last year to help train the Latvian forward. Porzingis had even requested that Longstaff serve as an assistant on his Latvian national team this summer for the European championships, as the News previously reported.

The reasons for cutting ties with Longstaff are unclear, but a member of the organization called him the hardest-working on the staff. It's worth noting the Knicks are moving forward with a heavy focus on the triangle at all levels of the organization, including Longstaff's former role in player development.

Longstaff, 34, assisted last season in the improvement of young rotation players, with Willy Hernangomez and Ron Baker taking large and unexpected leaps. In seasons prior, he did the same for Lance Thomas and Langston Galloway. Player development was one of the few bright spots in Phil Jackson's tenure.
