That's what you say when you are trying to prevent being traded. His brother is the one to believe. All he want is an environment he can develop and win in. He wants it in ny. He made that very clear.
Never listen to what people say, watch what they do.
What has been done?
Zinger did not show up to his exit interview.
Zinger's agent uses his mouthpiece to say Zinger sees no hope in this franchise and not to bother building around him
Jackson and Melo could both be here for TWO MORE YEARS. Lee's contract is going to look real ugly real soon. Noah's contract is already ugly. Other than Zinger and Hernangomez, the Knicks don't really have any trade assets other than picks. Melo's huge deal and Noah's ugly deal and what's left of Lee's deal are going to choke out the cap from getting any real help in FA, and that's not even considering most FAs who could help are not coming to the Knicks. Anyone they draft this year or next, would need a few seasons to develop.
Zinger is saying through his agent's mouthpiece that he doesn't want to lose anymore. The Knicks can't fix that in two years.
Its not like I want the Knicks to trade Zinger if they had a choice, but they are grounding up on a situation where they don't have a choice.
People say all kinds of things in interviews. I am not quite sure folks here understand how the media hedges it's bets with interviews and questions.
When Michael Sam, the first openly gay player eligible to be drafted in the NFL, came out, plenty of news outlets and sites and magazines sent people to interview NFL GMs and front office personnel.
"Do you think Michael Sam is courageous for coming out?"
Do you see how this question splits two ways?
Yes, of course, I think he's courageous!
If you hesitate, then the headline says "NFL GM X doesn't think Michael Sam is brave enough for the NFL"
Either way, you get a headline. So if someone walks up to Zinger and says, Do you love NY? Do you want to be traded?
Two headlines - Zinger LOVES NY! He doesn't want to be traded!
He hesitates.... Zinger WANTS OUT!
Either way, newspapers sell and online articles get clicked.
What else is Zinger supposed to say in front of a camera? Which is why his agent's mouthpiece is doing it for him.
Zinger is GONE. He can go with something coming back in a trade. Or can go and the Knicks get nothing for him. There is nothing they can do to "fix this" Zinger already knows this, his agent knows this, Wojo knows this. Even Jackson knows this.
Kid wants out. He doesn't want to be Knicks. Then he can go f**k himself. Here's a plastic garbage bag, now go pack your trash, mother f**ker. The Knicks don't need a frontrunner mentality. The Knicks need guys who want to be here, who buy in, and play the right way. Zinger is a talented dude, but like Melo has shown, talent just isn't enough sometimes. I get why he doesn't want to be here, but the Knicks have to start making team oriented decisions moving forward. Bending the knee to Zinger's petulance is no better than spending all these years giving Melo want he wants while he decided to just not give a crap about this team or winning.
A lot of you dudes are married. Your wife decides your commitment, your hard work, your sacrifice, your love, your loyalty isn't good enough for her. She thinks she can do better? There's the mother f**king door. What's the alternative? Beg her to stay and have her hold her thumb on you the rest of your life?
Like Chris Webber, Zinger might learn the hard way that being a young but talented but petulant big man picked high in the draft, getting what you think you want might not end up being the long term good move for you. That being said, he wants to figure this out the hard way, so let him.
