A lot of PGs have had elite speed. He is not great now. He is good now. If he was great now he would be talked about as a top 3 player.

The guy average under 5 ast and yet people think he is a great distributor. He has a lot of work to do. To me a Fox type player will be available in drafts to come.

Come on--the last ten games of a college player IS much more important than his first ten games against cupcakes. This is a freshmen who was hurt and sick for parts of the year. He was dominant head to head against Ball. How about a freshmen whose game came together? If he shot like that all year we would be talking potential #1 pick

You make a very valid point. Being able to hit threes is a priority in today's NBA.

Fox is going to improve his shooting. He's already shown progress IMO. Fox closed the year strong shooting much better!

That is not always a given. I'm sure Orlando thought the same when they drafted Payton that hasn't really panned out for them.

I'm not talking odds. I'm saying that I see Fox starting to improve already. I think he simply needed more focus on his shooting and that he doesn't lack shooting talent. Super quick kids sometimes fail to put in the work on their jumper since they can succeed without a jumper at the High School level.

Fox doesn't have to be a great shooter. Just needs to be good and he can get there from what I've seen.

+1. I don't see the hype behind Fox but I have a history of chronically undervaluing Kentucky products (see KAT). But I'm not sold on Fox being an elite playmaker on the next level and his lack of a jumper worries me that it might not be a repetition thing with him.

Insofar as what we run, I think Ntilikina is the better fit because of his ability to move without the ball, space the floor and be a good positional defender but I'd still go with Dennis Smith Jr if he's on the board. I think that Dennis has more star power and can operate in sets that are conducive to the spread offense teams are running now. When I see him, I see a James Harden prototype. Problem is that he does not have a triangle-friendly skillset, which makes me skeptical of his ability to grow with us....even though Phil won't be around forever. But all things even and I go with Smith.

Our best case scenario though might be to trade back to whatever pick Ntilikina is and recoup an asset with him. If he can linger on the board until the Pistons pick, I'd try to swap Smith for he and Stanley Johnson.

Two words: Emmanuel Mudiay.

Fox is a better prospect than Mudiay. Fox was in the crucible and demonstrated the kind of take the game by the throats ability you want to see. He's got flaws but not fatal flaws. IMO it's an insult to compare Fox to Mudiay. I don't recall Mudiay at any time shooting 47% from 3pt range over a 10 game stretch.

D.Derozan can't knock down the 3 ball consistently but is a really good shooter from inside the 3 point line but you'd take him wouldn't you??

Fraschilla is wrong about the Triangle being a Walk it up Half Court offense. Yes you can run it that way but you don't have to and Jeff is NOT running it that way.
