Totally missing the point! MDA's job is to get the most out of his talent and by all measures he usually does get his players to perform at a higher level. If he's giving his players a game plan that helps them perform at their best then he's doing a great job.

Stop Pissing on the man when he's clearly helped his players get to perform at MVP levels. Nash was NOT an MVP before MDA! MDA is putting Harden in position to be considered an MVP. That's what you want to do for your best players! Losing to a better team doesn't mean MDA is doing a bad job.

As for his lack of success in NY and LA this happens to ALL coaches at some point if they coach long enough! MDA has succeeded in making his teams better more often than not. So yeah you do sound like a F'n idiot!

Mike Krzyzewski did not know Mike D'Antoni before he was putting together his USA Basketball coaching staff, but clicked quickly. The long-time Duke coach and Hall of Famer flew to Phoenix, met with the then-Suns coach and soon handed over much of his offense over to him.

He said he considered D'Antoni, Nate McMillan and Jim Boeheim to be "co-head coaches." On Friday, he gushed about the Rockets new head coach. He called D'Antoni "an attacking coach" for his competitiveness and his aggressive offensive style and then raved about his friend.

"Guys not only like Mike, they respect him," Krzyzewski said. "He was a great player; not a good player, a great player. Internationally, he was unbelievable. He knows the game from a point guard's point of view. He's always studied the game well.

"Every time I hear people talk about Mike, they say, 'He's this offensive genius.' Well, he's a really good head coach. You can't have the success he's had by just coaching offense. He's a team player. Good guy. Easy to be around. And smart as can be. And very humble, because when you're put in that role, on an international staff, a guy could say, 'Hey, I'm a head coach,' and not be in it as much. Mike was all in it, all the way. I loved working with him and I love our friendship."

Krzyzewski was praising a friend. But when asked about how D'Antoni's offense will work for the Rockets, he went back to sounding like a coach that has been in the meetings and the practices and saw more than the numbers.

"It's well-conceived," said Krzyzewski, who had James Harden on the 2012 Olympic and 2014 World Cup champion. "People can be really good on offense or defense in a number of ways. Being smart doesn't mean speed. Being smart means spacing, good shots, using your personnel properly. We're all not going to be very good unless we have good players. If you have enough good players and they're healthy, the spacing of the court, the sharing of the ball, the speed with which he advances it, gives his guys an opportunity to make plays.

"When you have plays and reads it's the best combination. It's especially good if you have a special player and they do in James (Harden). It will be interesting to see how that develops because James is not just a really good scorer; James is a heck of a passer. Who knows what their roster will be next year, but it will start with James.

The 54 win team was still playing MDA ball? The team went South because of early year injuries, losing their 6th man of the year, outside shooting, key bench guys and adding a waste of space in Bags.

Its easy for people to talk about the genius of a coach when he has great players. Agree that players want to play in a system like MDA's. Its nonrestrictive and fast paces. Does that make it great? And again, a great coach coaches both ends well. Dantoni has always had problems coaching defense. And you cant ignore the obvious. He failed here.

Morey did attract players and put the right pieces around Harden. Anderson, Gordon and now LOu give them great off the ball weapons to go with Harden's PnR.

"When you have plays and reads it's the best combination. It's especially good if you have a special player and they do in James (Harden). It will be interesting to see how that develops because James is not just a really good scorer; James is a heck of a passer. Who knows what their roster will be next year, but it will start with James.

The funniest thing about this is how you love Phil and the Triangle yet defend the complete opposite system in Danfoni's? But makes sense that you dont make sense. Could see Danfoni as Phil's coach. That would have been fun to watch. The Nutty professor and senile old man.

Another STUPID comment is to say MDA hasn't won without an MVP type player. What helps to MAKE the difference for good players is how they are used and MDA helped to MAKE Nash an MVP. Nash was not an MVP candidate before hooking up with MDA. You can try to use revisionist history if you like but Nash was not on a path to being an MVP before MDA help to MAXIMIZE Nash's talent. Good coaches need good players.

As for The Triangle and SSOL. I've said MANY times that I'm a lover of X's and O's. Both Defense and Offense. I actually bought the Book on SSOL way back and did the same with Tex Winters Book. I take an interest in Pops schemes, Kerr's and Jeff's. I do this with every game I watch. There's nothing odd about it. Also Jeff is very much in the MDA camp on Offense and so Phil would ask MDA the same thing he asked Jeff. To blend his concepts with the Triangle as a base. It would be up to MDA to decide is he wanted to do that. Jeff said yes and by the end of the season he had the kids executing that Modernized Triangle. They should be even better next year.

Im not sure Im even wrong about the realization that we do not have an athletic front court player--Im not sure our guys would be effective against Houston in the middle defensively. Just to fast and athletic

That being said, isn't Dennis Smith Jr our best option in the draft, at our respective draft spot considering that his game is predicated on many of the same things Harden does well i.e. being a bulldozer going to the lane, finding open teammates and drawing fouls? I think there is no question we take him at 7 if mock drafts are correct and he is still available.
