I would rather he let his feelings known about the direction of the team now, not 2 years from now when there probably isn't time to do anything about it. That is if KP lasts the summer in NY. Really hard to gauge where this will lead. For better or worse, its a player's league now, with a very player friendly commish. Player's today have more clout than they ever had, and they're using it. At least the problems with this franchise have been put front and center.
I don't equate KP's skipping the Exit Meeting with a "Ship Be Sinking" type of statement. KP already knows the team has a lot of young players and that they're going to draft some more. He also knows Melo is not wanted by Phil anymore. I think that is the biggest issue. Aside from not doing the meeting we don't have any definitive statement from KP about why he did it and what his views are.KP is a still developing player and hasn't yet achieved anything lasting in terms of his game. He's not really in a position of Power. What he did was insubordinate unless Phil gave him permission to skip it. We really don't know anything from Phil or KP about what happened. KP has no choice but to eventually speak to Phil about this and continue on with his career.
Last time I checked Melo went to his exit interview. If KP was really trying to emulate Anthony, he would have showed up. There are too many things going on besides Melo on the Knicks to take it as having to do exclusively with him. He has spoken of the dysfunction from "top to bottom", long before this meeting. Thats also another way of saying "the ship be sinking".
KP wasn't saying that in the way you're trying to make it sound. The Media ran with that but when you read the full statement in context it's clear he didn't mean it that way!
As I've pointed out in this thread there wasn't any dysfunction as the season wound down. KP and the kids played well and together. This would make more sense if KP struggled and the kids didn't play with heart but they did!!!
So IMO this ain't about the Triangle or any coaching thing. This seems to be about Melo and Phil. I can't guarantee that this is the case but from what I've seen it's a logical conclusion. For all we know KP has already spoken to Phil.
