You're right if someone make offensive remarks at you I'm 99% sure that most here would go right back at the person making the lewd remarks. It just so happens Dolan is Billionaire and famous. I don't see the story here.

He is the owner, but an owner of a business. And businesses should avoid alienating their customers, even difficult ones, because it's bad publicity and bad for ...well... business.

Unless someone is so unruly as to be a threat to public safety, Dolan should not be getting into altercations with or applying sanctions against fans and former players.

There might be some hope in that Clarence Gaines looks like he might have the makings of a good GM. Maybe we get lucky and he gets the job after Phil leaves, and Mills gets kicked up to President, where he can continue his world class enabling.

If Phil can leave Knicks mgmt and the team in a better place than he found it, then his legacy as an exec in NY will look a lot different than it does now. Its also up to Dolan to create less of an authoritarian atmosphere at MSG. Its NYC, c'mon Jim.

I agree with your premise that players and owners have the right to defend themselves. But saying "sell the team" is not abusive. Getting in someone's face and calling them an A-hole is. If what was reported is true the reaction was waay overkill based on the action.

We don't know what the fan said. We know what the fan claims he said.

Dolan obviously took offense to whatever was actually said and, IMO, my guess is that the fan *was* being abusive. And let's get real about this, NY fans are some of the best in the league but NY *******s define the worst of the worst.
