Except for lotto Gaines pick and Gaines Wioly pick. ((Not so impressive as it was from same team he scouted) And handcuffed us for 4 years with his (classic young movement rebuild ) trade for that

One is the 54 win team was not sustainable. Look at the month to month stats of some players and wins per month. You'll see the Knicks came out of training camp red hot. Sheed and Kidd were awesome. Then they both fell apart physically. Melo carried that team in april that season so they could get a great seed. Kudos!!! Best season of the Melo era!!!! It was fun, it was unexptected, and they made no noise in the playoffs. can't blame that on PHil.

Next season, 37 wins and Tyson wanted out, felton was toast, Bargs was a disaster, and the team was in decline BEFORE Phil was hired mid march of 2014.

The window is 3 yrs for progress, and we have made zero progress whatsoever under phil. all I keep hearing is phil didn't lock us into a bunch of bad contracts.

With the current CBA and TV deal, is almost impossible for a team to have a capped out roster with no flexibility in the near future. So phil has done anything remotely different from every losing team in the league, they all have cap space and picks.

I disagree, if that was the case, GM's/Pres/coaches would be signed to 7 yr contacts. Contracts with players are 2 to 4 yrs now, not like the KG days when hey were 5 to 7yrs.

The Window is 3 years for what kind of progress? The 1st year he did the right thing in my mind. He tried to give the team a chance to show something and once it was clear that group wasn't worth keeping he trashed it and it led to KP.

Last year Phil was looking to build up some value which he did and used that to make a trade. This year he took a last shot at putting some vets around Melo which should have been enough to make the playoffs but it didn't. Now he can move on from the Melo Era and concentrate on building a new core.

It may not be the kind of progress we hoped for but it is a kind of progress that we haven't seen over the last 17 years. Not once was Phil promising the last 2 years would produce a Title Contender. All we hoped for was to make the playoffs. Since that didn't happen it's clear that the time is now to move on from the Melo Era.

It's the kind of progress we haven't seen in 70 yrs of the franchise existence, because no one has been this bad.

We have only signed 3 suspect contracts since I T left Office in 2007(10 yrs ago)... Melo, Amare, Noah, 2 of those phils was directly responsible for.

As he was not part of the 54 win year. Shump was hurt and Smith was suspended and had rough start. But yes 37 wins in spite what I have just mentioned. But how are players he got rid of doing? How are his first two years of free agents and draft picks doing? And please dont start with KP.

EVERYTHING starts with KP!!! That's like saying we should ignore Duncan or Lebron. KP has the highest upside of any player we've drafted since Ewing. He needs much more development but KP is the starting point for the future of this team.

No one likes losing but that's generally necessary if you want to draft impact players. Unfortunately Phil didn't have the luxury of all his picks or perhaps this would look a lot better already. As it is Phil did a pretty good job with what he had.

For those Media and fans bashing Phil, we all saw Free Agency the last two years. Exactly who could the Knicks get that would've guaranteed success? Would keeping RoLo have guaranteed a playoff birth?

I can't think of any signings or move Phil had a legit chance to make that would guarantee success. Sometimes it just needs to be rebuilt. I think that's what we all learned.

Players like Jennings and others (ex ATL PG) was hopping the bright lights. Everybody wants a piece of the apple and the attention. But Phil and the triangle puts a dent into that. The Triangle gives off a bad perception right now, so dynamic players would rather go elsewhere. This is part of the reason why nobody wanted to come here. And it's not going to get any better.....In fact, it's already getting worse.

I'm not saying Phil can't attract anybody, but it's not like players will be lined up anymore. If the Triangle made D.Rose look suspect....and Jennings to run off to the Wizzards, these new age guards ain't ready! Phil needs a group of vets, with high IQ.
