BRIGGS wrote:Hes probably a top 6 pick so I think its improbable that hell even be in the discussion. You can be a winning PG without the best 3 point shot. Hes really good defensively and he can finish at the rim. The bet is he has more upside than a similar player Elfrid Payton. If we draft Elfrid Payton its not terrible but you start the game with liabilities.

I think we can find a solid steady PG--we do not need a star there unless its Ball. Right now lets see what Baker and Randle can do.

Draft Express has him at 8 right now. Draft.net has him 7th. I think the tournament will determine a ton about the ranking in the top ten.

The Elfrid Payton similarity is there, though... to me that's the low end of what he can be, I think he can be a lot better, but he's got similarities. I definitely see a little Rondo in him, and a little Schroder. He can be a piece on a good team, but probably not the focal point a guy like Ball or Fultz would be.

Let me ask the naysayers if John Wall could shoot when he was drafted?
I'm pro Fox. I think he's got a gear that few in the league have. He can dish, score and defend. The shooting will improve. If he's the PG find a SG who shoots.

That's a very good point, too. I don't know if he has the otherworldly speed of Wall, but they are similar. And Wall has definitely improved his shot over the years. At times this year, Wall has looked like the best PG in the league not named Harden or Westbrook.

Also plus for Phil is that Fox is a big PG who is pass first. To me a guy like Fultz or Smith are score first. Ball and Fox are pass first. Ball would be kinda the dream at this point, but I think Fox would be great if we finished in the 7/8/9 range.

I dunno about the big PG bit. I doubt he is 6'4". More like a 6'2" plus change. Fox looks a bit small on the court, and on all photos Monk looks taller than he, even though Monk is listed at 1 inch shorter.

I think Wall IS the best PG in the league not named Westbrook or Harden, no offense to CP3 and Curry. He's not the best shooter, but his overall game (and stats) speak volumes.

That's one of the reasons I am pro-Fox as well, although the bad 3pt shooting is a concern.

I'm higher on Fox than I am on Dennis Smith. And if he compares to Elfrid Payton than i think that is a good thing. Payton, while cannot shoot, does look to get his teammates involved and have easy baskets. If you surround a point guard with good shooters, then all your point guards need to do is find the open man and run the offense. That's why i lean towards a guy like Monk. It's easier to find a pass-first point guard then a shooting guard who may have 24 ppg potential.

I would be happy with Monk or Fox if we stay around 6/7/8/9. Most years both those guys would be top five locks. I think we may need to be 5th to 7th to get them though.

Re: Payton - he had a triple double against the Knicks and then 22pts 14rebs 14ast the next game. If that's the low end of what Fox can be, it's not terrible.

I love Fox. I think he is going to be the best pg in this class (other than Ball). I think the jumper will come just like Gary Payton developed a jumper and Kidd. If the kid shows a decent jumper in his predraft workouts, we should draft him.

Fox is absolutely dominating right now.
