Melo could play the 4 spot on second unit Calibrate expectations on trades. When he was better and a free agent he didn't get half of the interest he expected.
And of course I don't think this will ever happen
AH ignorant basketball fans. What will you do with Noah and his inability to do anything at 17M. What will you do with KP when he has Melo on bench and you realize his awesome crossover from 30 feet away just doesn't cut it when he is only focus by defense? What will you do with Lee when everyone is not watching Melo and leaving him open at 3pt line. What will you do with Rose when guy guarding Cheese or LT and not Melo are able to help when he penetrates? And in case you guys haven't noticed, Willy, Holiday, Cheese and everyone else on bench are all very inconsistent and not that good. But I guess the hard ons everyone gets the one time Kuz or Willy score a basket seems to take all the blood from their brains. Luckily JH is not so quickly aroused.
Phil has a few screw ups. First was the contract to Melo and the second was Noah contract. Should of let Melo expire. The direction of team would have gone in another direction. With that said younger talent is better than old talent. At least with young talent you get upside and the old well deteriorate in front of our eyes. Every year we watch the best player deteriorate more and more.
Young proven talent is always good. But not a bunch of long shots. Just think fans all love the unknown and expect too much from the known. If it was up to some fans, we would have Winslow, Cheese, Jimmer, Lin, and Wroten rockin starter minutes. Most just don't understand how important it is to have a guy that takes so much attention away from other players. Does he need to fit in, absolutely. Does that take time, absolutely. Would I want to trade Melo for 3 guaranteed can't miss lottery picks, Yep. Is that gonna happen. No. He is our best realistic and actual possibility to win games and get in the playoffs. Just don't understand blaming him for all the bad play. No one has exactly been playing good ball. Noah? KP? The bench? Having Lee get hurt and having KP out doesn't help a team gel.
THhere is an element missing on the Knicks and that is a facilitator. They don't have one. Like you said Rose has blinders. The rest that isn't a strong point. I'm think a big guard like Holiday not the one on the team would work wonders next to Rose and might even benefit KP and Melo.
Let's face it the Knicks have an unstoppable one on one player in Rose and Melo is decent one on one it's when he goes against the entire opposition is when his poor shot selecting rears its ugly head. They need a facilitator that can help the distribution process. Someone put up a stat where Knicks are very good when the manage more that 20+ assists.
It will go a long way to add Holiday. I think defense will pickup also from the result of better distribution it helps players keep their focus when they know their efforts on defense also get rewarded on the other end.
