Dont know if it has to be anyone taking a step down. Problem I see with Melo is everyone talks about KP getting better plays called for him, Lee getting set up for more threes but no one talks about maybe running some better catch and shoots for Melo. Or maybe running the 1-3 pick and roll for Melo. Most times Melo is given the ball a bit too far from basket and just asked to score. And many times with less than 5 seconds left on the clock. Think his age and knees are making it tougher to do what he has done all his career. Which is single handedly score against a defense. Ofcourse, Melo needs to stop forcing the issue at times, specially when double teamed. Overall, would like more catch and shoot plays set up for both KP and Melo to get them in rhythm and going early, Then go with the hot hand. I am sure they will only get better with more games under their belts. We have had a good season so far and if we can get those two guys playing at a high level and add Rose to the mix we can be tough to defend.

KP is never going to be a post up player, and even he gets a little stronger, he's going to remain a finesse player. His job is to become a smarter player, and raise his IQ, and work on his foot work.

Learn how to use his height, athleticism and quickness, instead of his weight, and strength.

Dirk had no post game for years until he made a concerted effort to do more scoring in the paint. He was just as wiry as KP as well, early on. KP needs a good up and under move.

Porzingis is setting NBA records, and he is barely into his second year. As he fills out, KP will be better able to battle in the paint. Still should stay aggressive, shoot over the shorter players, drive on the other bigs.

Here is the OP's post. So games where the three points in bold are happening would be a good test of his suggestion.

Melo has been lacklustre lately and especially against the Suns. I understand off games but this has happened multiple games this season. The comparison to dirk is that their both 7 ft jump shooters that are white. Dirk is not as athletic, nor does he have the speed or handle that kp possess
