They will prolly take on Mohammed if they get to dump Eyshmeyer's horrible contract. Something like Mooch, 3mil, Mohammed for Dampier, Eyshmeyer makes sense to me. Claxton gets hurt a lot, they need a 3rd string PG who can play good backup minutes once in a while. Mohammed is a bargain. They get rid of a stiff at C who will prolly never play again due to his injuries.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Marbury did not get here because of dice and wards contract, IT gave up a lot, just like he has done with the crawford trade, and just like ny's been doing since the begining of the 90's.

Only they keep falling short of that one player , weather it's a role player or a star, there always short of one or the other

IT is getting us back to respectabilty, but this team has to be made up from head coach to the 12th man. Those seem to be the teams winning championships.

Did you seriously expect IT to upgrade the roster more in 9 months than he has? Remember, this is the team that had gone 77-115 the previous 2 1/2 years. Remember, while Houston was out, the starting lineup was Eisley, Anderson, Van Horn, Thomas, Weatherspoon

If you told me he was going to take back $170 million in contracts, trade multiple first rd picks, trade 3 promising young players and get rid of every expiring contract on the team, I would certainly expect that there would be some kind of upgrade.

I have a question, can being under the cap run, shoot and rebound?

How many games did being under the cap win for the bulls,Hawks and clippers?

Just curious....

I was thinking of posing the same question. The question of whether expiring contracts can score, rebound, etc. has been addressed here. It's time for people to address whether cap room can "run, shoot and rebound?"

If it comes down to increasing the talent level of the roster...

Screw the cap.

Go for whatcha know, Isiah.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The issue is whether or not next year's expiring contracts can bring back a superstar big man in his prime.
They brought back Marbury last year and next year there will be more valuable expiring contracts from better players (TT and Penny and Nazy are players who can not only help team's gain cap space but can ALSO help teams win and can re-sign for significantly less the following season). I see no reason why the expiring contracts next summer won't give us a player *at least* as good as the inferior contracts/players we used to get Marbury.
(BTW, of course the Knicks are going to let *some* of their expiring contracts expire. No one here is saying they will use every one of their expiring contracts to get star players.)

If they can great, if they can't, for whatever reason, they need to move to Plan "B."

Cap room can't run, shoot or rebound but it can certainly give a team greater flexibilty in acquiring players who can.

The Knicks are hardly in the same situation as a Bulls team looking to replace Jordan and two of the worst franchises in sports in the Hawks and Clips.

Im fine with the road we are going. Build the team even if u have to add uneeded players/salary though Penny & Williams will be very productive veterans for us while Marbury & Crawford will shine. Zeke wasn't responsible for Anderson and Norris replaces Spoon who Zeke wasn't responsible for either.

Then when his vison is finally done. There wouldn't be any more need to add unneeded players/salary. So in the end all that will be left is the Marburys, Crawfords, Sweetneys, Arizas and which ever other young gun we add to the team. All while staying competitive which would help the young guys develop even more. The veterans & the competitiveness of the team will all help the young guys when its there time to step up and shine.

We could have done nothing added lottery picks and just waited for Anderson-Spoon-Eisley-Houston's contracts to expire. And I would have been fine with that as long as they did it the right way. But since we are going this road I will support it.

Expiring contracts are just a harder version of cap space. With either one you have to use the gift with care and target good or complimentary talent.

Look at Chicago a couple of years ago. Lots of space and they sign Eddie Robinson? Nice. Look at the Clips, it's just a place where no one in their right minds want to go, so, space wasted.

Denver has timed it right. Altanta, no.
