Clyde is an institution, a true original and a gem. We're lucky to have him.
"It was good," Curry said. "I killed Malik, Jerome. The usual suspects. It felt good."

ive never seen him get excited when the other team makes a play. I dont want homer announcers who just praise the knicks win or lose. Im not a huge clyde fan but he keeps it pretty neutral.

How can you say that when all you have to do is listen to the games and hear him clearly laughing and getting excited when a player on the other team makes a good play?

He definitely does. You must notvwatch all the games or you just dont notice. I dont want a full homer either but when everyone else ****s on the knicks i wouldnt mind a slight bias
i have watched pretty much every game since the early 90s. True maybe i dont notice everything they say but i never see him blatantly cheer for the other team. There is nothing wrong with praising a opposing good player or play they make. Its funny because if this was another team most call out the bias their announcers have lol

Whoa whoa whoa now, you just changed my wording from him getting excited over a play from an opposing player to him cheering for the other team. I'm not saying he's cheering for the other team, all i'm saying is you can hear him laugh and get excited when a players on the opposing team makes a good play against us and you might be alright with that but speaking for myself i don't like it especially when it comes at a critical time in the game.

Yeah i mean i dont want a full homer like the clippers i just want to to feel like clyde is going for the knicks and not just waiting for us to fail. Whatever like i said we could do worse and maybe i will appreciate him more once he is gone.

im sorry i still never see him root for us to lose. He is pretty damn honest which im all for. If someone makes a stupid foul he calls it out. Truthfully he praises melo like crazy even when he has off games lol

Root for us to lose?? Why do you keep saying things that weren't said?? I hope you're not commenting on my first post with your comments cause i never said anything like the things you're saying were said.

whoa whoa whoa lol. His laugh happens all thr time...its just apart of his personality. Like i said many times the ONLY important thing is the final score. If we win thats all i care about. Truthfully i could care less what the announcers are saying....they arent playing or coaching.

+1

I don't get full cable, so when I do watch the Knicks, it's either a national game or an online stream - usually the other team's broadcast for whatever unfortunate reason. We get spoiled with Breen and Clyde.

Playing 500 basketball is what we call winning. Win three games and we call it a streak. Baby steps it's always baby steps.

Nope people want to be whined to. That's clyde nowadays.

In the first Charlotte game after two Knicks were alone fighting for the same rebound clyde said it was a sign of miscommunication and bad sign to where the team is at.... on the flipside two teammates fighting for the tennis is better than nobody fighting at all. Aka a good sign. He's old as hell man so he's not going anywhere but he's starting to really sound like a crabby old guy

Though I can understand if some tire of repeated Clyde-isms (I don't, they're always actually descriptive and pertinent), Clyde's expressiveness and eloquence are at another level. Not to mention his basketball acumen. IMO a good color commentator should 1) have true insight into the gameplay and 2) get excited by good basketball play (by both teams) and 3) be an adept, accurate and fluid communicator. So many sports commentators, making their living talking and communicating, fail #3 miserably. Yeah, he gets more excited if the Knicks are playing well but he points out flaws on both sides and will say if the Knicks got a break on a non-call or did something dumb. Love having Clyde. The only other color guy that I truly like is Hubie Brown, who's superb and fascinating. Used to enjoy Bill Walton just for his brutally honest critiques at times: "You're 6' 11". Get a rebound!"

New York hates homerism. In any way, shape or form. Unless it's the day of the parade down Broadway.

Clyde is the typical cranky old ex-pro athlete now. Nobody was ever as good as he was, he never fouled anyone, blah blah blah. How anyone can listen to his stupid twirling dervish word mangling is beyond me. Mike Crispino on 98.7FM at least points out how many non-calls Melo has to put up with, while his commentator, Brendan Brown spews as much Knick hate as you would probably hear at a Celtics home game. If the Knicks are down by 6, the game's over. If the Knicks are up by 10, the opponent is on their way back. He does it every game.

People who like Mike Breen as a Knicks announcer suffer from ESPN syndrome. Breen's NYC cool; it's really cool and shows high BBIQ to hate your own team. I truly believe after hearing a few of Breen's broadcasts, that he's still suffering from Imus in the Morning hangover.

As a lifelong Yankee fan, I hated listening to Rizzuto because he was practically senile and added nothing to the broadcast. Haters hate John Sterling because he is precisely what they hate; a homer. Frankly, I've enjoyed his broadcasts because the alternative is listening to Michael Kay and the rest of the ESPN-lite crew do their Red Sox Nation imitations during Yankee games. Susan Waldman is unbearable, but Sterling keeps shutting her up as the season progresses, which is alot of fun to hear anyway.

To each their own.

Anybody sick of clyde yet?
