I don't get why you would feel offended. Here is the context:
"It had to hurt when they lost LeBron," Jackson said. "That was definitely a slap in the face. But there were a lot of little things that came out of that. When LeBron was playing with the Heat, they went to Cleveland, and he wanted to spend the night. They don't do overnights. Teams just don't. So now [coach Erik] Spoelstra has to text Riley and say, 'What do I do in this situation?' And Pat, who has iron-fist rules, answers, 'You are on the plane. You are with this team.' You can't hold up the whole team because you and your mom and your posse want to spend an extra night in Cleveland.
The context suggests that Phil was talking about the people LeBron was hanging out with, including his family (mom).
Why were you offended by this?
I've always had 2 definitions of the word posse. One was the old, western type, the other describes a group of friends or people that hang out together.
exactly, this is stupid, any goup of friend and fam are consider
How in the hell that could have anything to do with race shows how shallow Labron is, and im a black American..
which reminds me! i have to be very careful in using the word "US". not all of "US" think the same way and thats great. knicks1248 is black and thinks differently. i completely respect that! but for some of us, were HIGHLY sensitive right now. it'll pass and we'll get over it.
but i'll never call how someone reacts to anything "stupid". its just the reality of how they react. it might be misinform, misinterpreted or misguided but i dont think its STUPID. cuz then youre referring to ME and MY STUPID response to initially hearing the quotes (i was offended). lol. when i put the emotion aside and thought rationally i realized that it was two things: poor choice of words + hyper-sensitive reactions (which hopefully people can understand why)
I refer to any group of friends as a posse, doesn't matter the nationality, if you travel in a group and your all about the same thing, that's your posse..
If phil say Justin beiber always traveling with his posse, which includes is manager, publicist, his friends, his barbar, would that be racist
If your rolling deep every where you go, it's either your posse on entourage..
