This team is definitely going to win more than 43 games, in fact I am even predicting 63 games as where we will be. We are going to be solid at home and on the road. We have a handful of players that can take over a game at any given time. TT, Marburry, Crawf, a healthy Houston, and let's not forget our young boys: Sweetney, Ariza, will all comeon on some nights and dominate. You watch, our team will be shuting a lot of teams off with Defense, yes, I did say DEFENSE. JYD, SWEETNEY, DAMPIER, KEON KLARK are defenders, and they will all be in a Knicks uniform. Trust in Isiah.

dido... just a little perspective. I thought for sure RV would have joined you on your prediction but he either joined later and I dont feel like spending more than 5 minutes to dig up threads

DJ.. look at the date. Dido predicted that LAST year, not for this one coming up. I would say we fell a tad bit short on the 63 or the 43 win prediction.
It was all Lenny's fault

Let that be a lesson of overdose on the kool aid! Its cool to be a fan my man, but one must be grounded with some basis of reality that despite the company line whose job it is to sell tickets, one must read the dreaded hated media if for nothing keep it somewhat real!
On paper that team had some nice aspects to it, and may have looked even better than this years team!
This year, I am extremely satisfied with .500 season and thats only if we give substantial minutes to the kids!

It will obviously be all Allans fault even though he'll either be on the bench the entire season, playing 10 minutes or less per game, or wont even be with the team. If we don't win, it's all b/c of Allans defense. Damn him. Damn him to hell.

My only point to all this was if people want the greatness they are happy to predict it takes time and patience. Sometimes you catch a little lightning and things go well but its the exception and NOT the norm.

AMen!
But we all know its Laydens fault! Isiah can turn over the team many times, but if not for layden, he would not have had too!
But would Isiah even be here if Layden was not who he was?

its interesting to see whats up from year to year. How much people valued JYD and what he could bring. How "everyone" wanted to play here. How NO WAY would Swift go for the MLE (he did). How close we might have been to getting Dampier. How guys thought we were pretty close to winning a division and overtaking the Nets.
I'm backing off all that crap. I'm looking at this as a bona fide rebuild and looking to next year before we really start coming together. If we catch some breaks and someone really plays well great. If we are riding Penny, Malik, JJ and Marbury to 42 wins and a shot at the Pacers in round 1 I could care less. ITs all about how the young guys play.
rv didn't start predicting until this year...I did think we would win 43 last year and take the mini division...but january took me by suprise. as I'm sure it took everyone, I also thought Houston was healthy...him, crawford (Injured) and TT (injuries and sister DYING) are good for 10 fewer wins.
So, eff off baby!

I have and I believe this! My point is we didnt lose any star players. We didnt have Crawford for 3 weeks. Whoop de doo. If you want to tell me we only won 33 games because you were expecting more from Houston thats your fault and the kind of thinking LAyden subscribed too.
Look around the league. Every team has injuries and losses players for stretches. We were no different and ours werent as bad as half the teams that MADE the playoffs. If we lost Marbury for 30 games I will concede injuries derailing our season. Nothing happened we shouldnt have been able to play through.
Bottom line is we couldnt close games.

we also should have been able to pick up after those injuries better than a lot of other teams given the experience we had on our bench. i think this last season was underwhelming in a lot of ways, nothing we can do about it but move on, bring in players to suit our needs without counting on guys like houston and penny for major contributions.

I agree that last year you can't blame injuries. I wouldn't say the same for the prior year, though, particularly in the playoffs. You criticized RVHOSS in another thread for acknowledging injuries in the Nets series, but going into that season, Houston had just come off a career year and had played about half of that current season averaging 18 PPG while TT averaged 16 PPG as a Knick. It is fair to bring up injuries in that series.
