it's a far from ideal starting lineup for kp6: rose, melo, kp6, lee, noah.

i'd like to see kp6 get even minutes with the starters and the bench rotations. he is the most versatile player the knicks have, and with the highest ceiling. it's kind of sad that his talents will be squandered with having to play with ball-dominant, low-efficiency players like rose and jennings, and meanwhile carmelo has never taken fewer than 18 shots his entire career, also with less-than-desirable efficiency.

simply put, there's not enough shots to go around for kp6, so he should be getting his share with the bench.

starting rose and jennings together and benching lee would be a disaster of a starting lineup, but on the other hand a bench of kp6, lee, thomas, hernangomez, and baker could be a very good unit.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I think we should experiment the next couple of weeks--maybe one game with KP as sixth man--maybe another using someone other than Lee as starting SG. Maybe play Carmelo at starting 4. We need to keep an open mind and see what fits best. Also Rose needs to get his arse back here.

Shift Roster? But the season has not started and Hornacek is doing a good job trying multiple rotations to see who fits well together, There is zero chance that KP will be a sixth man. He is able to spread the floor out so well for Rose and Melo to go to work. He is also a great compliment to Noah on defense. As far as Lee not starting? He looks like our best, on ball perimeter defender. Can hit open shots and has shown to drive and penetrate to basket. Just do not think anyone else on the squad can come close to replacing those two players.

I understand where you are coming from--I just have to wonder about "fit". We have been down double digits in 3 of 4 games and there were a lot of defensive similarities to last year. I actually think Sasha is a very decent defender and is just more explosive than Lee. There is NO DOUBT we need upgrades at the SG position and possible we may need a whole new roster of guards. We "may" have some solutions but we wont know for a period of time. I like our young big men but we will also need augmentation with athleticism at the 5 and 3 down the line.

Watched all the pre season games and just don't share in your concerns with back court. Lee has been a solid defender over the last few years and he is quite dependable/explosive on offense. Besides, we already have Rose and Jennings to take care of explosive part. Imo, Sasha has nowhere near the same athleticism. I'm happy with the all around play. The lack of defensive rotations is understandable for a new cast of players that are being paired up with no consistency. That will surely change once set units are established.

I doubt coach Horn has much say so or power on switching the starter lineup.
I wanted Mark Jackson as Knicks head-coach to shake up the organization by doing things 100% Mark way, plus give Star players certain roles to for fill n play into.
Courtney Lee signed on as a Knicks to be the starting SG, we must give him a fair chance.
Plus our guard rotation look shaky n questionable in the preseason games, as if it need more than just Rose.

Our lack of defense in the past starts at our coaching staff plus the team captain n leader of the team, we once had a no defense Marbury, now ISO-Melo!
Melo has always been to slow to defend SF or PF, plus Melo laziness on defensive-switch.
Having Noah presence n leadership on the court may help our lack of defense by the team concentrating n working on a Team-defensive system for stops.

Good thing we have some posters who can offer advice to the coach's.
The concept of "experimenting" with different line-ups is something few coach's consider and rarely talked about!

If only there were a place where these know it alls could post their ideas without having to stand outside the practice facility yelling to the coaches. A place to have constructive discussions about things they are passionate about. Man. That would be awesome.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Can you imagine that? People with insanely high BB IQ's who not only know the desirable, efficient way to play 21st century basketball, but also would probably be coaching, running the franchise and the league, if it wasn't such a step down in their paygrade...

Wow...the insights, the blisteringly focused brilliance we unwashed idiot fans would be able to be exposed to...

If only such a thing could exist...

Welcome back to Knick's basketball. Been away for a few seasons have you? Maybe you should catch up and read a few articles from the past two years before posting again, okay?

Heads up: Melo's rebounding and dimes are not that bad, either.

Google is your friend.
