Another link.....

This guy says that he thinks Dolan and IT faked beiong furious that Crawford had not agreed yet to the contract to get the Bullss to take a lesser deal.

Neat idea. Don't know if its true, but i doubt it would have worked

Pax got everything he asked, he stood his ground and rejected Norris flat out. What did he compromise on? I think once Isiah relented to meet the bulls conditions, he was mad at Goodwin for trying to squeeze more. The Bulls must negotiate with Craw, not us. Dolan was mad as he thought once we accepted, it was done.

Goodwin did a great job getting good money for his client!

Hopefully we just get this deal done today so Zeke can put all of his effort into getting Dampier to come here. I'm just glad that the deal is still alive. After nothing happening yesterday I was starting to get a little scared.

It is all about Jamal inking that contract for the trade to go through. Seems the latest news spin the contract dispute instead of the players involved in the trade.

Seriously, we should have like an "Isiah Thomas Day" in NY.
Another excuse to get out of work and school for the day.

Zeke should have found a way to get Harrington out of that deal. It will be pretty amazing if he can get Dampier without Harrington.

Give dolan credit. He was convinced that he needed to spend his way out of the mess him, checketts, Earnie and of course Laydog created.

There is always the danger that we could turn into the Rangers! On paper a good team, Sather had good cred as gm for years, and rangers are a freakin mess! IF so, we can have "hang" isiah day and pull the kids from school.

Not take anything away, but each deal we have done good because we take more salary than we give. The owner allowing that to happen enables nice deals. Laydog created a mess, and had the shackles put on. Rumor be it was Stern convinced Dolan to make the changes. Laydog was working on the Marbury deal. As silly as Laydog was, his silly trade perposals were as such because he could not take on more contracts. That went out the window with him.

Kudos to Isiah for working hard and keeping fans in the loop, but to Dolan for putting up the money. And to the fans willing to accept the increased price of things all Knicks.

If Dolan wants to impress me, he should let Zeke buy out Shanderson. He doesn't have to pay the Rangers this year and it would be a nice thing to do for Knick fans everywhere.

Just saw on ESPN News that the Chicago Sun reports that the Bulls agree to a 7 year contract with Jamal Crawford for the expected trade with that Knicks.

Didn't see how much though.

Yea I just saw it too, the deal is for $56 million plus a potential $4 million in bonuses.

there is no real point in buying out a player. You still pay the money and he still counts against the cap. All you gain is a roster spot. And that roster spot would be filled on the IR anyway. Anderson is good competitor - on the court and in practice. You might has well keep him around.

we will see how the roster looks. I agree about Anderson, but right now he's not in the rotation. Even if Houston is done forever, Crawford will get the major minutes at the 2, Moochie will back up the 1 for 10 minutes a night, and Penny will play 20 minutes or so at the 2/3. That leaves squat for Anderson, much less Ariza, DJ or whoever else

I think Shandon is far from being done as a useful piece. Yes, he was clearly exposed in the playoffs as being offensively done, but he may be able to teach Jamal a thing or two about defense.

Although, if they can arrange a buyout, it usually does save money. For instance, you can usually buy out a player at slightly less than the actual remaining value of the deal. They could offer Shandon $20 million right now to buy out his remaining three years. I believe his cap hold would only count for one or two years, meaning that at least in the final year of the deal, you wouldn't be paying luxury tax on Shandon. This is what the Nets did with Mutumbo, they bought out his $38 million remaining at $32 million, Mutombo made up the short fall by signing for the MLE. If Shandon re-signed somewhere (Utah?), he could makeup the $4 million right away.

Just an idea.

Shandon is going to be the highest paid practice dummy.

Is it possible to buy out the final 2 years of Shandon's deal? This could probably be done for $14 mil. He would start the season on the roster but would effectivley become a $8mm expiring contract which would make for an attractive trading piece at the deadline.

No. I don't think you do that. I imagine David Stern would have a fit. I think the only way to buyout a contract is to buyout the entire thing and then pay the money in a lump sum up front.

I don't want Shandon anywhere near Crawford. He is the guy who suddenly had a migraine headache that prevented him from playing when Wilkens ended his streak. Buy out his poor character butt now. He would set a bad example for the younger players.

someone mentioned that, but they're basically just reporting the oft mentioned (today) article from the sun times this morning. That's the only place it's been mentioned. When I see "FINALLY: Crawford to Knicks" on the ESPN basketball page, then i'll celebrate.
