So am I....what part of Dallas?

I've been a fan of his. Think his game will blossom. Plays D and can hit a big shot (although he didn't flash these playoffs). Wanted the Knicks to investigate

Having said that, that is a crazy contract

There will be a lot of buyers remorse for this and many other deals. (Maybe even for the Knicks but I think we've been more disciplined than many)

watching dallas/phoenix and it looks like Barnes has really turned things around this year - and is worth every dollar of his contract.

Rick Carlisle is a really good coach. He's in an environment where the coach is allowed to coach without interference.

Carlisle has helped to rehabilitate Vince Carter and Al Aminu, both were not high IQ players, but he got them playing team ball.

This is not a knock on Hornacek, it's just that players with crappy attitudes cannot survive in a strong organizational culture in pro sports. We saw it with Big Tuna wherever he went in the NFL. Do it his way, or be gone.

For Dolan to have done it right, he would have needed to just hire a no name young GM, then got out of the way, and let said young GM trade Melo as fast as possible. This is one thing I appreciate about the Utah Jazz. When Sloan and Deron Williams could not survive together, they dumped Williams fast ( and it proved to be the right move)after he coach killed off Sloan. You might be talented, but if you act like a total douchebag, you need to be gone.

Would Barnes thrive here? I don't know. I doubt it.

Early on in his career Carlisle was rumored as extremely rigid and a guy that couldn't relate to his players. He certainly has been successful in Dallas and allowed to run things his way. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Rondo was parking in his parking spot. Also, Jalen Rose's story of how V. C. slammed Sam Mitchell is an all time classic.

yet Briggs creates a new thread daily and wants to be taken seriously. yeah 20 and 5 on 47% shooting, we all know who truly has lost a few steps here.

You're probably right- the more things change with Phil, the more they stay the same.

I always liked him on GS and thought he would do well in a bigger role. I know he struggled early.

I think he is the kind of player I would save my cap space for - vs. a 31 year old Courtney Lee and a broken down Noah.

Yes, you could end up with an Allen Crabbe. But at least you can still hope for upside @ 24 years of age, vs what we got.
