Jose last year was a much better player than Rose (and Jose stinks). And its not like Rose can make it up with defense because he is a bad defender. so here is what phil is thinking ....

I like him at $10mm and I like him less at $20mm. Horford is getting a max, I assume, but Whiteside and him are ahead of Noah. Dwight is a weird call. His history has black marks but maybe this season becomes about redemption. and if they fail, we have a lotto pick. does Noah want a 1 year contract? If you got me Noah and Crabbe or Batum, I would think it was a good offseason. You know I gonna spin wit it

At this point it's all up in the air. I will say that the Knicks won't run Noah into the ground. They will do the same with Rose. Phil and Horny realize that they will have to be smart with both players. There will be enough young and strong talent behind them to keep their minutes down. The presence of Rose and Noah is not about them carrying the action for 35 minutes and 82 games. The idea is to have them in the postseason, so you have to get them there. With all those roster spots still yet to fill behind them it's clear they will be looking to add young players like Willy for example. |

Very inconsistent but overall good. Noah was already breaking down and put like 20/10 on Lopez in about 15 minutes of play. The point was Lopez had no answer because he is an inferior player. HE REALLY WAS! Lopez started off slow but he also was put in the post where he never really played before. He was a PnR guy and a good one. so here is what phil is thinking ....

I loved RoLo, but the reasons for Noah NOW after adding Rose is just that it makes perfect sense. People forget that not only Rose but Noah also is an excellent Triangle Big. He was making great plays in the Triangle under Thibs when they ran it. He may not have fresh legs after a long layoff. We will have young bigs behind him as well.

Just like with Rose, if Noah can give us 70 healthy games then it is a great signing and should work out very well. A healthy rotation including Melo, KP, Rose, and Noah is the most talent we have had in the modern era and has a chance to do some real damage in the east.

fishmike wrote: FYI, through their first 8 seasons in the league: Robin Lopez averaged 68.4 games per season Were people concerned about Lopez's injury history prior to last season? Obviously Lopez is trending in the right direction playing 82 games three out of the last four season, but lets not pretend Lopez was always an iron man before the Knicks acquired him. Noah's shoulder injury last year is just one of those things that happens and shouldn't be chronic. His knee situation from the previous season concerns for me more. Sure Noah is an injury risk, but if we can get him reasonable money, and we play him similar minutes to how we used Lopez last year, I think I take that risk. |

nixluva wrote:Just for a frame of reference of why the Knicks are after Noah. Yep. I really question how much basketball people have watched over the past few years if they think Rolo is better than Noah. Of course it is a health risk. But there is plenty of upside. There's a reason the Wolves and Wizards and even Bulls all desperately want Noah. ¿ △ ?
