Don't like this trade unless something else is coming over.

I don't understand it at all, if it is true, unless their are other things in the works.

Can anyone tell me why this trade makes sense?

No. I don't get it. Rolo was a really good value signing, and I think Grant was going to have a breakout year.

Yay Justin Holiday to the rescue!!!!

The deal for sure isn't for a 1 year rental in Derrick Rose or a 2nd rounder or am I missing something???

this is a very strange trade. rose has a ton of tread on those tires. when healthy, he's a great player, but im not sure i see this as a win for the knicks.

Holy crap - Getting an injury waiting to happen for a pretty good center on a GREAT contract in Lopez and giving up our 1st round pick from last year?
We get nothing back but a 2nd? Wow, bend over Phil.

We must be looking to sign someone big in FA or this is (another) disaster waiting to happen.

So glad we didn't lock ourselves into a maxed out broken down Conley for years to come or Rondo which would've been even more idiotic

Rose is a shell of his former self. He is not remotely the same explosive, dynamic, MVP type player he once was a couple years ago. Multiple injuries have taken away a lot of his athleticism and he will never be the same physical player again ( kind of like Penny's career).

Jerian Grant showed great flashes when he finally got a chance to start last year and would excel in Hornacek's up-tempo, guard oriented offense. He possesses the explosiveness that Rose once had.

The only reason I like this trade is Rose's 20 million comes off the books after next year and I was never a huge Rolo fan and his 12 million, long term deal is gone, too. Jose Calderon off this team is addition but subtraction and his 8 mill are gone. I think we are better fiscally after this trade for the future, which is not bad.

I just don't like throwing in Grant as part of the deal. Phil may live to regret that. I hope they see Wroten playing at a high level now and having regained his athleticism and that's what prompted throwing in Grant to make this deal happen.

This reminds me of when Kevin McHale gave his old team the Celtics a sweetheart deal for KG, but we're on the wrong end. Phil helping his Bulls, what a guy.

from a raptors perspective, rose is one of the few guys that torch us left and right. so at the very least, he'll give you 4 really high level games against us.

This has the signs of a major screw-up. Can anyone get on-board with this move? If so, please explain the upside.

We lose our starting center and PG-of-future for a broken down, former uber-athlete and a second rounder next year. Am I missing something?

There's 2 upsides to this deal:

1. The Knicks get the best player in the deal, which means historically they'll win the trade. If Rose comes back to form this will be a coup and if not, New York has even more cap flexibility.

2. Grant likely isn't very good, and moving him with Lopez and Calderon basically off-sets any money that you take on with Rose coming in. With this in mind, the Knicks can actually target one of the many bigs that are out there in free agency instead of having to make an iffy max offer to a guard.

VERY LOGICAL!!! Once you get past the emotional knee jerk reactions this could have a lot of potential upside in terms of structuring the team for the future. Very interesting.

The only positive of this deal is the tremendous cap flexibility it brings us for 2017.

Think about it: Rose's 20 million off the books. Rolo's 13 million off the books next year, which was a long contract. Calderon off the books. The real free agent class is in 2017. Phil has set us up in that regard. Give him credit for that. I still don't like giving up on Grant but I see the forward thinking in that.

I don't think the Knicks are expecting Rose to be great. He's expiring and we needed an upgrade at guard. Rose is a huge upgrade over Grant and certainly a major upgrade over Calderon.

And Lopez being included proves Phil did not like how the front court panned out. Can't really fault him though since no one expected KP to be this good this quick. We were talking 2-5yrs for KP to have the kind of year he had as a rookie.

Obviously a mamouth trade. I am not sure who plays the 5 unless the Knicks use their money to pluck a center. I like Rose. His second Half of the season was big. If he works out we've a solid guard. F not we cut him loose and have given Robin for naught. So it frees up possibly an additional $20 million plus the 32 that now in play. Sounds like a war chest. Sign Lance Thomas pls and see if KD wants to do battle in the west where it's crowded or in the East (Rose/Melo/KP and KD= the East)

Rose has only played in 39 percent of games since 2012-13 season. Meet the new Isiah, same as the old Isiah.....
Watch him get a long term deal. We had the best frontcourt since Ewing/Oakley and he wants to break that up for Rose?

Your unconditional support of everything feel Phil does seems very "kneejerk".

The Knicks do get flexibility for sure... 20 mill off the books in 1 season should pay for itself. So do we START Wroten at PG and Rose really at SG and switch it up on defense since wroten is 6'5 and 6'3?
who is justin holiday (besides related to jrue [from what i understand]) and what does he do for us?

All he has to do is put up mediocre numbers, not get hurt, and watch Rose get a long term deal.
