So basically Lebron is the only one with a clear advantage on his defender.

The Knicks will have something special with KP. His skills change how the Knicks can play. The Knicks need to fill up the roster with Big Guards and Wings with Multiple skills and 3pt shooting.

KP has a real chance of being a very special type of player and one you don't ever see with him being 7'3 with shooting range out past the 3 point line and an inside game that's already good but in 2/3 years should be as good as his outside game. We really do have a special type of player and with the right pieces around him we could be the next great team but it will take 2/3/4 years of good drafting and signing the right free agents to put around him.

I really don't mind building right now around Melo to see if we can get a good team built and in 3 years when Melo is gone we just take that $20+ million to bring in another great player to put with KP and whoever else Phil has brought in.

Love looked great the last few months and he showed up for Game 7 against the Raptors!
Clev's problems are not love, its the Warriors!
There is a trade with Boston but Clev will not want picks back.
I can't see Lebron leaving.

They should keep the core intact (Lebron, Love, Irving, Thompson) and continue to look for the right pieces to fit around them. Then hope that Irving and Love learn from their finals struggles and come back more prepared. Even then it still might not be enough. They need to hope golden state experiences injuries and chemistry issues and be ready when that opportunity opens. Sometimes it takes luck, nothing else they can do except be there in the mix every season in june.

They could've had Wiggins ++ instead of K Love --and that was on LBJ. Now LBJ will leave and Clev is stuck with crap. Hell prob go back to Miami and that team will be unbeatable for 2-3 years.

I dunno, I think he's there to stay now. He was absolutely vilified the first time he left. I doubt he wants to go through that again after making it all right with his return... Plus, he's won it all a couple of times already--I think that changes his perspective. Not like he hasn't won it all yet. He has. I would think he's now dedicated to winning a title in Cleveland and will continue to pursue that goal. I bet he comes out and affirms that in a big way if they lose this series.. I'd be shocked if he ever left unless these things happen: mgmt. got real sloppy with personnel for some reason and gave him no choice but to leave in FA eventually (right now, I think they're a real good SG away--they need a step up from Smith/Shump at that position imo), they trade him eventually down the line or unless he finally brings that city a championship. I doubt he leaves with unfinished business in CLE.

I actually think JH isn't going to build around Melo at all. His next moves will be about maximizing KP and his Unicorn like talents. Putting more versatile guards and wings around him that can shoot, drive and create. Then on the defensive end we still have size with KP. I'm really interested to see how this all develops over time.

I wouldn't be surprised in Melo is dealt over this summer.

I tend to think if that happens it would be at the trade deadline next year. They'd have to be out of the playoffs picture again and then maybe a trade to the Clippers

LBJ has an issue. He faces not winning another championship due to Thompson inability to shoot, JR Smith and Wilkiams aging, Shumpert ineffective, Love soft, and Kyrie doesn't bring the drive and strength that say a Westbrook can. Cleveland is best in the East until DANNY singe makes another major trade. Then what? LBJ better off in La or Miami with Paul or his old squad Wade Whiteside and Winslow - maybe they can fit Melo in too and for Whiteside straight up.

Thinking on this more, and what CLE implosion means for the Knicks - it validates their strategy to go system and to go fast (not that Phil needs that validation). In 16/17 - with the continued growth of the Wonder Twins, (Porzingas+Melo in 16/17, Porzingas+??? in 17/18), some decent new PG and shooters from FA and late draft, and with Havlicek, er, Hornacek bringing in a modern offense, we should see a huge leap next year, and make it to the playoffs. We reload with a super FA+ in 17/18, and we could legit make it to the ECF 2018. Just need Porzingas to stay healthy, Melo to remain good-Melo, and better players continually brought in until we have our core like GS does with Curry/Klay/Green.
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

Put Melo at the 4 & Porzingis at the 5...go all out for Durant or Lebron to play the 3. That would possibly be the greatest front line ever...not even kidding

Lebron will come here only if he doesn't want to lose in the NBA finals anymore.

Phil's words about Lebron stepping it up to the next level...
a. I do not think it is going to happen
b. Phil trying to lure Lebron to NYK saying I can do for you mentally what no one else can?

Really??? What about Marbs? He was a all-star and wanted to play in NY.
His head was not right comparing to Melo having his head and his hats right.
Otherwise same kind of hero-ball player ...

From real Knicks fans point of view absolutely the same thing.
You know NYorkers are result oriented.

don't seem to be too many real fans around here at all. Just a bunch of haters and babies. I guess Don Mattingly is just another loser in the eyes of *real* NY fans. Hell.. so is Ewing right? None of them can touch Plaxico's greatness. Yawn. "you fail you fail." Yea... that's a fail.
