This is some quality trolling.

That's my point

I don't think it's far fetched at all to assume Phil is waiting until after the season ticket holder renewal deadline to announce his decision to re-hire Rambis. It's very possible Dolan told him that he can hire his guy but he has to wait until season ticket holders are locked in to prevent the inevitable revenue drop off.

What do we know about renewels? After 17 win season, Phil made children cry and drew Steven A. from a vacation, what was the renewel drop off after that?
After a campaign were fans are excited about KP after his epic record breaking rookie season, are there really a legion of fans ready to leave?

Is David Blatt really that charismatic a leader that would keep a disgruntled season ticket holder to leave?
Who are season ticket holders? Not anyone here.

I think Rambis is the top pick, too. But last off-season a lot of us were convinced that the "plan" was to draft Willie Cauley Stein and sign Greg Monroe.

Phil didn't do that.

He gets the benefit of the doubt for now.

EXACTLY!!! What Knicks fan is not PUMPED to see KP's 2nd season? Who the coach is gonna be is way down the list of reasons these fans will renew.

Exactly, the man is smart enough to know the knicks biggest weakness has been doing what everyone assumed they would do which made them predictable. Hell he didn't hire Fisher until June 10 due to the playoffs. He might be waiting for the coach he wants (vogel hopefully) to be free before he so much as moves a finger.

IMO, Phil Jackson hired Fisher for a couple of other reasons, with 3 main points

1- to increase his chances in drawing interest with Durant (UFA this summer)
Along with Westbrook who will be a UFA next summer

2- to help lure Kobe Bryant, which both Phil Jackson and Fisher have said that he had plenty left to contribute and will not retire in their opinions (early in the season or before last years season started)
(later in the season, after he played in MSG already, he announced his retirement, though I do believe that he can contribute and play in the "right team, system, and talent around him" though it would be a much smaller role

3- To run The Triangle and the Triangle alone
(Fisher quickly realized that he could be making much more money as a HC, after watching Steve Kerr make 5m per year on 5year deal, while Fisher was making about 1.5m per season with a vet min contract (which he has said that he thought he could play another 1-2 more seasons and both Westbrook and Durant have given credit to the leadership of Fisher while he was on OKC

When it was apparent that The Knick's will be unable to lure Durant (as they have shown they are far from being a contender)
And Kobe's retirement was later revealed
Then Fisher didn't fully look to run the Triangle, didn't take advice of Phil Jackson's (minions)
He was eventually fired but payed in FULL for the amount that Jackson did not want to even give to Kerr (though after the sale of Clippers, it greatly revealed the value of NYK's and Dolan)

While both Kerr and Walton will use ALL of their own experiences to run other philosophies/systems other than JUST the Triangle
(though they use principles of the Triangle in GS but use it more to space the floor and to PASS rather than to POST up and initiate the OFFENSE to score)

Kerr has played with 2 HOF coaches in both Phil Jackson and Poppavich, along with one season with the Jail Blazers along with many HOF talents with different styles of leadership
Whether it was Jordan/Pippen/Kukoc/Rodman
Duncan, Robinson, Manu, Parker, Steve Smith, Brent Barry, Horry
Rasheed Wallace, a YOUNG ZBO, Pippen, Dale Davis, Damon Stat, Derek Anderson, Shawn Kemp, Bonzi Wells, Petterson (the Kobe stopper)

Well Then there is Thibs who was waiting patiently
And with the rise of the cap these next couple years, it will have an effect on the coaching salaries
With last summers lack of interest, what would Phil Jackson to different other than the Triangle, his presence, along with CA, (only KP is the only difference)

I agree with most of this. I think Phil did think he might lure Durant and that went into the Fisher hiring. Not as sure about Bryant, but I could see them thinking that. Particularly because Phil hates Jimmy Buss and probably would've loved to stick it to Buss and have Kobe finish his career a Knick.

I believe this is the first time that has ever come up on this forum. Guys want to talk more about the drama than anything having to do with basketball.

Sigh 😡 It's insane to me that some are acting like this is the worst the franchise has been when things are on the way up! We literally just watched our 1st Rd pick set records at 20 years old. How can the future not be brighter than its been the last 15 years???

People asked for a full rebuild and we got it. Now while we are rebuilding we gotta see fans crying about every minute of it.

I'm tired of it but I love the Knicks so much and this sickness will not allow me to stop posting here and other outlets.

Not all fans are crying about it. I can speak for myself, I am generally supportive of the direction the team has taken under Phil. My biggest gripe is bringing Melo back. IIWII

I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only try to make them think - Socrates
