Some more things he said (source http://www.delfi.lv/sports/news/basketball/news/kristaps-porzingis-nepalidzes-latvijas-izlasei-rio-kvalifikacija-teksta-tiesraide.d?id=47386505)

- He learned the triangle very quickly and even helped teach it to some of his teammates. He thinks the triangle should be adapted to the modern basketball

That bolded part is verrrrrrrry interesting. I agree with that and it is basically my main complaint with Phil not budging. GSW adapted the Triangle. You have to keep adapting. Triangle is all about counter moves... that should mean Phil is open to adapting it with new counters...

You really have to not take in every time the "Triangle" is considered that it is unadaptable or that it is used 100% of the time and have a little faith that Phil is not sitting there half crazed insisting that it be run with two handed set shots and the team wear its 1960's vintage shiny shorts! Phil is going to put his brand of signature ball as the core principle. There are but a few people he trusts. One reason his tree peeps have not succeeded is the organizations and fans they coached at were not fully committed to making the rosters right for it, and to do that you need the owner President and GM all on board. Also not cave into short term fan pressure.

its not that we, the faithful re cult like in our optimism, we just want to see this thru. We like that he was able to tear it down and rebuild. I for one am not all into grading each and every move but fascinated by the process of building the franchise again. Acceptance and patience in the face of a media that promotes ridicule and self interest. By that, try to empower a fan base to think they know better and by second guessing the moves it manipulates the fans into thinking they could do better at making decisions.

This is why Mreinman thinks some of us are smug or look down on others. We are, but its not from an elevated stance, its just that sinking low into assumptions off the smallest nuance is not a good take.

don't think that some of you are smug, I think that some of you are desperate to grasp onto hope and who brings us more hope than John Wooden?

Some of us are open minded and not make decisions based on past performance only. IN fact, one can see that coach's learn from the past.

Of course he can learn just like any other rookie GM/President learns ... problem is that he does not think of himself as a rookie or that he has done a bad job. He thinks "do you have phucking 11 rings putz?"

Is he willing to learn / adapt? If he would be then great! We have a genius basketball mind who realizes that it is not 20 years ago.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Now he has to find a big man coach not currently with the Knicks organization.

Hakeem, McHale, Walton, Jabbar...he needs to work with a big man known for his interior game.

Don't care if he's shooting 500 3s each day-he can always do that on his own, but he needs to add about 3-5 go to post-up moves to his game for next year.

I really like the idea of Jabbar. The other guys are awesome, but if KP learned the sky hook and nothing more this summer that would be fantastic. Fits well into triple post and would be unstoppable. He doesn't need to fake anyone out, risk traveling violations or the like; just perfect that one move.

This summer he needs to develop a small handful of money-moves. What do i do when i'm guarded by a significantly smaller opponent, i.e, let's say 6-9 or less? Those should all be out of the post, catching the ball and quick move. And, what do I do when guarded by length? Might be some of the same post moves, but I would imagine there would be some exploiting his shooting range and mobility.

There were many parts of the season where I felt he was not integrated into the offense and was earning his points off of rebounds or ad hoc. This created some bad habits -- eg., too much outside shooting

As he develops these money-moves, his teammates will lock on to that and rely on him more and feed him more at times of opportunity. E.g., the next time a Smart, or Green is defending him, his teammates will be lighting up on that opportunity and feeding him for some sky hook action. Opponents won't be able to do a damn thing about it -- akin to Bird or Dirk's fade-away (simply a matter of whether the guy hits his shot).

Can't wait to see him after a summer of working on his game.

See? I can post positive things sometimes, too.

Never would be happy for someone to NOT be a part of representing their country for the Olympics but YAYAYAYAYAYAYAAYAY!!!!

seems as though the guys who play in the Olympics come to camp in much better shape, and always seem to be a step ahead.. I remember melo in 2012 coming into the season red hot..the same yr he was 3rd in MVP votes

I would prefer him play in real games, rather then practice with kurt

Has to be able to punish a little guy guarding him down low with a few automatic moves if teams try to go small on him or if he gets a good match-up on a switch.

I just want him to have the ability to get off a good shot no matter the circumstance. Will be interesting to see the changes he makes to his game next year.

I find it funny some feel Rambis is bad for KP. Rambis was the big man coach on the Lakers that developed Bynum. He's been noted as being a very good big man coach. Who do people think has been working with RoLo, KP and our other bigs???
