sigh. i wonder if that will change all the adoration hes been receiving today
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

That's odd. I've never heard anything about him being into drugs or anything. He did suffer from depression but being a guy into drugs doesn't seem to fit.

"Delerious" was the first 45 (yeah, i'm that old) I ever played so much it wore the needle out on the turntable...
"Sign o' the Times" never loses it's relevance...
And towards the end of "Kiss" where he screeches out "Ain't no sign I'm more compatible with..." makes me smile every time.

I had read that at one point he was a devout jehovah's witness. Wonder if that was still the case, or just some compartmentalized part of his persona...

Either way, he was unique. RIP.

Don't see why- maybe really judgemental, 'perfect' people might lose any empathy, but most people have compassion for people who die, because it's a fate that awaits us all.

I still think he had a terminal condition (which is the other rumor)- it fits his behaviour (suddenly writing his memoirs, checking himself out of hospital asap, battling the flu for months (which would indicate a compromised immune system), trying to carry on as normal, etc)- maybe he had to take opiates to manage it. We'll find out soon enough- whatever it was, dying in an elevator alone is a horrible way to die, but I guess there are no good ways.

autospy report shows Percocet was the culprit

apparently he recently had hip surgery and was put on these pain opiate pain meds - which is common after surgery. he accidently took too much and was sent to the hospital. They had to give Narcan - which is the antedote. but at 5-2 120lbs which is the size of a child, he probably had some more in his system. GAMEOVER

sadly i see this often with my patients. catch 22. percocets and other opiates are great pain meds after surgery. however theyre very potent, dangerous and addictive. If you give torodal, you poke holes in the abdomen to cause ulcers or it messes up the kidney. thats why i always prescribe tramadol for my patients but its relatively weak.

correction! autospy isnt finalized YET and wont be for at least another couple of weeks. but friends of his (including SHeila E) said he often took his Percocets after concert shows. THat was the last drug he took before he was emergently taken to the hospital and given Narcan

Pretty sure the autopsy couldn't have shown a drug was to blame- you'd have to wait for the toxicology report which will take weeks, even TMZ is saying no cause of death was determined (though that would suggest drugs rather than disease/biological cause, as the latter would be relatively easy to determine. Basically the rumors at the moment are:

-Addiction to pain killers following hip surgery
-addiction to pain killers due to not having surgery due to his religion
-stopped taking meds due to religion and so became terminally ill as a result
- battling with terminal condition and prescription drug addiction

Ah, thanks- I still find his behaviour odd over his last few days, even if he was in the throes of addiction.

yeah i have no idea what to think. People are speculating anything from AIDS to drug addiction to Zika virus (thanks aretha franklin...smh). but it could possibly be a mix of scenarios - had hip surgery, yet still performing concerts. so he had to take more meds to cope. in doing so he probably built up a tolerance and needed more and his lil stature couldnt handle it. who know?!?!?!

i roll more with michael jackson but i can appreciate how gifted he was
