people may have factored in you can't dump the owner.

I think most semi knowledgeable fans would trade Dolan for any other owner - trying to think of one worse that Dolan- maybe the Russian in Brooklyn is worse- but I think he has figured out you can buy an insta win franchise.

We were a 17 win team last year.... I don't think a 15 win improvement is resting on our laurels.... next year we make the playoff push

Yeah. Not sure what BRIGGS is getting at here.

Yeah but Phil inherited a 37 win team. I'll admit that team might have been on a downward trajectory but you can't praise a team for simply being almost as good as the one the GM inherited. Also, it's way harder to go from 32 wins to mid 40s than from 17 to 32. You have to jump ahead of far more teams. All we really did was go from being worst out of 15 to 3rd worst out of 15 teams in the east.

Phil deserves little credit for the work he has done for the current or present state. It's the longterm I love his moves. Porzingis. Grant. Hernangomez even looks like a talent. Free agency - caps situation. All draft picks after this year, in possession. We have a really good opportunity from 2017 onward to be one of the best situations in the league.

That 17 wins were by plan. Melo shut down and a lot of third tier role players. It was a tank job. This year there were visions of playoffs. They were in the mix half the year for the playoffs so Phil did a decent job of building a on the fly team. On the fly teams rarely win championships and they rarely make the playoffs. There has to stability of core players. The Knicks did not have that stability. Next year there might be more stability with KP, Lopez and Melo I would bring back Afflalo also just to have a group to create stability. Rambis is not a bad coach I'm in favor to keep him unless Walton comes available. I like the triangle offense but there needs to be an inclusion of glow players by that I mean players that make quick decisions. Watched GS last night and the ball rarely stuck in a players hand there was an infusion of SSOL.

Getting back to flow players they are usually quick with decisions and sound defensively they are instinctive.

Fans want their favorite talking head to coach. Same fans secretly hope that coach causes a riff with management so they will fire Phil. Basically the same drama that's been happening the last 20 years. That's one of the non basketball related trains I want Rambis to stay

I'm fairly even keeled when it comes to the teams I root for. However in this case my gut feeling that Rambis is a train wreck.

Gut feelings aside nobody can explain why they don't like Rambis other than bringing up Minnesota. He's coached this team fine and reorganized everything after Fisher got fired.

Here are my thoughts -

1) His record this season was 9-19 (.321 Winning Percentage). I'm unsure how your quantify what the standards are by saying he's coached this team "Fine" and "reorganized everything"....but it is reasonable to think that if he was doing these things it would be reflective of a better winning percentage than his predecessor (Fisher 23-31 .426 Winning Percentage).

2) He's currently in place (and potentially will be permanently in place) - solely due to the Triangle. The smokescreen was that Fisher was fired due to off the court issues - however in reality it is more likely he was let go due to his deviation from the Triangle philosophy. Rambis is here to enforce the triangle - this creates the perception that he is here to be Jackson's yes man. While some may prefer this path, I am uncomfortable with this type of setup and would rather the team seek a coach with a more proven overall successful track record. In other words, I would rather the Coach supersede the system rather than the system superseding the coach.

3) He seemingly put his potential longer term job security over the team's longer term evaluation & growth potential process. As the team's Playoff hopes this season diminished and then evaporated completely - Rambis remained hesitant to play/evaluate the younger or lesser played roster members. It wasn't until Calderon's injury and near the very end of the season that Players like Grant could see more significant action as part of the evaluation & growth process.

4) He brings little to no energy
