Lotto pick, sure. Not a mid to late 1st rounder.

yeah not a late round pick

Oh I wouldn't even do a mid 1st round pick. It would have to be like top 10 or maybe 12. It depends on what we're getting back too to make the salaries match.

Salaries might not have to match depending on if the team has space but even if it's a late lotto I'd want a player too to compensate for this draft pool.

I love Lopez game but I worry about his age and how quickly his skills might deteriorate if he loses his quickness/agility.

He just turned 28 today. I suspect that for the next 5 years he's still gonna be in his prime! Most of what he does isn't about his athletic ability but rather his strength, hustle and technique. I think he's still peaking offensively.

He is on the down side of his prime and unless something crazy happen the rebuild would be slow and would probably happen after he is 30. I don't mind I'm staying but if I could get a lotto pick and a player I'd think about it.

His offensive inconsistency hurts but keep him as he's rim solid and continuity with KP is important particularly if Melo packs up

Prefer Lopez. Great team guy, has shown progress as the season has went on and has fit in well on both sides with what we like to do. Need a better point guard next year who can both feed Lopez some easy baskets, realize it's not smart to always dump the ball down to him, and also stay infront of his man defensively so that Lopez isn't always out of position trying to help on dribble penetration. A better PG or ballhandling SG will do wonders for Lopez as well.

He's been a lot better than I thought offensively. He still has a low rebound rate, can't hedge or switch a screen, and has no passing skills whatsoever. His hook shot and offensive boards are nice but I think he's more of a liability defensively than most people think with today's perimeter oriented league. KP is the perfect 5 for today's league.

THIS!

The better our guards are the easier they can make the game for him ON BOTH ENDS! This notion that he's on the downside of his prime is ridiculous. Bigs in general can have a longer range of effectiveness than smaller players, based largely on their size and skill. RoLo isn't likely to get much slower or less athletic, given that he's not that fast or athletic now and doesn't depend on either to be effective.

You can't dump it to your 5 that often when he can't make simple backdoor passes. ROLO is a backup. I actually like him I'm just sYin you can't committ money to a big like him. You need to stretch the floor on both sides or cause mismatches

I think he's starter worthy, but his impact is grossly overrated. KP is our future 5, Lopez will be long forgotten.

Look around here, folks think our frontcourt is "set". It isn't, Lopez is a liability.

I don't get that either. I think he's one of our very few players earning their salaries (not necessarily exceeding it but at least earning it).
