The Knicks tried small ball. It was the D'Antoni era. Real successful. NOT.

The only time the team has won this season is when the opposition plays big and we can keep our bigs on the floor.

If they go small, we wind up in a lot of trouble.

The whole league goes small. The league has figured out the Knicks are not built to do that. They're only good when they go big aka play a traditional lineup.

So teams go small against us. And murder us.

The Knicks do go small, they often go with Lance in at 4, with KP sitting. Then KP comes in for Lopez. They play small. The problem is if you play smaller like that you need guards to take advantage of your increased speed. All the teams that are successful playing smaller and quicker are teams that have great perimeter players. Who is our best perimeter player? Melo. And he barely can get by guys off the dribble and usually settles for handling the ball too long and taking a pull up jumper.

Point is all this criticism would be valid if the Knicks had a quality backcourt. They have 2 really good backups with Afflalo/Galloway. They now need 2 new starters who are actually capable to start on a good basketball team.

Thats what disgusts me. When we had Dantoni everyone cried that we can't win playing that way. Now that golden state wins, everyone wants to play that way. Disgusting!

It happens every time a new champion is crowned. It's a copy cat league and the fans are just sheep following whatever the trend is. San Antonio, Dallas, Detroit proved there's still room for team ball to win in this league. Also teams like Boston and the Lakers proved they can reinvent themselves in an off season or so if all the right pieces fall into place.

Rambis is standing for defense. They are also taking a stand for chemistry, continuity and culture. As long as we stand for that we will eventually find the right pieces.
