I'm not getting Bucked.

We have KP and not much else this year and 2016-2017. Melo will be traded (hopefully) for picks/role players to fill the void around KP. RoPez is playing well of late, yes, but he gets toasted regularly by BroPez, so net negative. Lance is playing again like we expected, doo doo. Galloway has the sophmore jinx. Grant looks like a deer in headlights. DWill can't get out of the imaginary dog house. KoQ, Seraphim, and Lou all look like end of bench guys. We just lost 3 triangle coaches in the same season, so not only do we have fill massive roster holes but we have to install a brand new coach that may or may not align himself completely with Phil's version of the triangle. And all that cap room? Every team in the league will have more cap room due to the new TV deal...it's not like we'll be more attractive because of 1 unicorn. Also, it seems every other player HATES the triangle due to it's restrictive play...so there's that obstacle too.

You guys don't see this?

Well, that poster helped put us into the craphole by provoking our owner's psychotic desperation knee jerk reaction of trading a 1st rounder for Bargnani.

We all see what our eyes allow us to see, it's just that yours only see the absolute worst in everything when it comes to the NY Knicks.

Of course there is plenty of concerns, but the thread is about us compared to the Nets. We are light years ahead of the Nets because we have a young franchise player and control all of our draft picks beyond this season. You just aren't grasping that. Nets are sunk. They can't truly rebuild until at least 2020. We at least have options and a starting point with KP.

But what did I say above that isn't true?

Nets are dog shyt, we can all agree. But what about the Knicks situation, besides KP, is rainbows and lollipops? What about our roster is endearing to free agent?

We lost Fisher, Rambis, and Cleamons and have to start a new coaching search. We run an antiquated predictable system, that other teams are able to stop easily. All the triangle prospects are straight up booty except Luke Walton, and he ain't leaving. What non-triangle coach would want to bend his philosophy to coincide with Phil's outdated thinking?

All those point guards we're going after...Nets have more money to throw at them.

The only advantage we have over the Nets starts in 2017 and 2018, with those 1st rounders we own outright.

Like I've been saying throughout this thread, only KP gives us an edge. Roster wise we're still ass. Any assets that's potentially staying(Lance/DWill, KoQ, Galloway, Grant) are just roster filler and don't move the needle. We have no established Coach to sell to free agents, and the triangle is the current dirty word around the league. We have no draft picks this year and have to wait until 2017 for our 1st rounder.

Unless Willy turns into the next coming of The Mailman then we're not so much superior to the Nets. Maybe marginally better. But Not vastly superior for at least a few years.

I love how you conveniently remove Melo from this math as well, even if you dont like him he's a proven scorer & rebounder and if the DadMelo thing isnt a mirage you can add passer to that list as well. Even your beloved Unicorn Porzingis seems to know he & the team are better off with #7 in Orange & Blue.

Kristaps Porzingis: I wouldn't want to lose Carmelo Anthony
3:39 PM ET
Ohm Youngmisuk
ESPN

Kristaps Porzingis has already lost his first NBA coach this season, and he hopes Carmelo Anthony's frustration doesn't lead to his losing his mentor down the road.

Anthony voiced his frustration this week with the spiraling Knicks sinking in the standings, and Porzingis said he hopes Anthony stays patient and remains with the New York Knicks for the long term.

"Obviously I wouldn't want to lose him," the rookie said when asked whether he's worried about Anthony's frustration leading to a potential change this summer. "He is who he is on our team. He's very special.

"And we need him to do big things in the future, especially for me. I love playing alongside him, so that would obviously not be something that I want."

Kristaps Porzingis says of whether he can sense Carmelo Anthony's frustration: "Obviously, we all know he's frustrated and we're frustrated ... but he's not showing it so I think he's [being] a great leader right now." William Hauser/USA TODAY Sports
The Knicks (24-35) have lost 13 of their past 15 games, a stretch that included the firing of coach Derek Fisher. Anthony was particularly disheartened after a 122-95 home loss to Toronto on Monday night, saying he had to "decompress" after that game.

On the five-year anniversary of his trade to New York that night, Anthony said "it's challenging to kind of stay strong and positive through all this" when told that the team has been through four coaches, three general managers and one team president along with dozens of players in his tenure.

Porzingis, 20, has been one of the few Knicks bright spots of this season. The rookie, who is averaging 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, has often credited Anthony with mentoring him.

"Carmelo is doing the right thing. He is being a mentor to a young guy," Knicks interim coach Kurt Rambis said. "And a lot of it is just Carmelo challenging him to be aggressive and confident out there on the floor. ... Melo has been great with him in terms of encouraging him to grow as a ballplayer to blossom, to trust himself and be confident in what he does."

Anthony is in the second year of a five-year deal worth $124 million, which he signed as a free agent two summers ago. The contract has a no-trade clause, and Anthony has repeatedly said how much he wants to play and stay in New York.

But Anthony, 31, also wants to win a championship, and it appears he will miss the postseason for a third straight season with the Knicks.

"He's very professional," Porzingis said of whether he can sense Anthony's frustration. "Obviously we all know he's frustrated and we're frustrated. ... Inside, deep inside, you're frustrated but he's not showing it, so I think he's [being] a great leader right now.

"It's been pretty tough, but I believe all of this that we're going through ... it's all a big challenge to prepare us for something bigger in the future," Porzingis added. "That's what I believe in, and we've just got to push through this. And this is going to make us stronger mentally, so when we get to that moment where we can actually be a championship team, we're ready for it."

That's the beauty of our unicorn, and why we all are high on him and love that he's our hope and future.

In the face of all this adversity, of turning boos into cheers, in turning the other cheek when Melo blasted the pick, in losing his first sexual deviant Professional Coach, on the continuous losing, and on the brink of losing his first Rival/Mentor to off season trade he's able to be calm and collected in this storm.

Not many athletes have this "grace" or "awareness" of the situation and can say the right things no matter how disastrous things maybe. Not only is his Basketball IQ off the charts, but he's so able to navigate media and social media adeptly too.

i expect the nets to turn things around in the next couple of years based on these two moves alone.

I think you are probably right about Marks but this gm 101. Saves the team money, opens roster spots and at least in Johnson's case shows a willingness to work with a player/agent to get them in a better situation

you can't make an argument against the system until the right level of talent is in place. the knicks lack talent in the backcourt. before you scrap the whole thing you have to give the president and gm and coach the opportunity to work that system with a sufficient level of talent.

last year was a necessary evil. this year is a necessary step towards respectability. this summer we have to see upgrades at the right positions of need.

my issue with the knicks since 2011 is the abandonment of a plan in pursuit of a name. jackson was brought in to put a plan in place and then construct a team to work that plan. we lucked out big time with kp and melo, though breaking down, has shown some value this season. if you go back to the draft, it was very very clear that kp signaled the death knell of the dolan/melo era. i see no change to that, especially now that melo is breaking down.

it has always been a TWO-YEAR NARRATIVE arc for me and i was enjoying this season, and see no need for all the extremism. by the end of NEXT season, if we have not made significant progress, my patience will be worn thin.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

When we feel bad about knicks, we at least have the Nets to make us feel better!!!
They did beat us last week? Yep.

Chuck is right, Knicks are just better because we have two no. 1 draft picks we own going forward and a 7 foot three 20 year old child who moves like a wing and shoots like a demon!

Other than a kid with a HOF trajectory if all goes right, and those two picks, we are shyt.
Oh, we also have a 32 year old All Star. Who might still be tradable.

Chuck is "that guy who just kind of tries to be all smarter than the rest of us". You know, "That GUY?" We all Know "THAT GUY" who when things go bad can relish in "See, I told you!!". Usually he is a relative you can't get to go home. He is that guy in the room that when everyone else is bumming out about a loss, he is "See, I told ya!!".

Actually my father in law is "THAT GUY".....Favorite line at the end of a football is "They are playing the PREVENT DEFENSE.......Har Har!! only thing it PREVENTS IS A VICTORY!!!!!!HAR HAR HAR".........
