as opposed to discussing Melo trades? Rubio has been mentioned as being available. He's got a big contract and I think his value around the league off the charts

I have faith that Phil wont trade for a player making 14mm a year who has been the orchestrater of 5 straight 20 win teams who shoots the ball like an 8th grader on the b line while sitting on the lowest avg% of any starter in the entire NBA during his time in the league. And while we complain that Scheyd(who is better than Rubio) is frail?? my goodness how many ligaments are left in Ricky's knee? One turn to the left and were out 40mm large.

two wrongs dont make a right though. lol. melo isnt available (no trade clause) and rubio isnt available (GM said this was a false rumor and we dont have the assets to get him). why are we talking about rubio...lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Is this like when you were blasting WCS in the run up to the draft and saying it was a done deal? We're not getting Rubio and he's not as bad as you're making out, relax

Rubio is much better than Lin

That's debatable. What I really meant but didn't word it right is that Rubio and Lin go down as far away the best Knick PG's in nearly 30yrs. Derek Harper was good but he was on the downside of his career and that was 22yrs ago. So basically to not consider trading for Rubio because he can't shoot but does everything else at an elite level of would be beyond stupid.

People still don't realize how hard it is to find a PG that does it all. There's been plenty of PGs who score at will but lack the most important components of a true PG. Leadership, defense(preferably lock down) & court vision/floor general. Those are the prerequisites to being a good NBA PG and Rubio has all 3 traits. Not a lock down perimeter defender but pretty good. A PG who does all 3 and scores with efficiency is extremely rare and icing on the cake. Of course every team would love to have that guy. If you want that guy you have to draft him especially in today's NBA where teams just don't let those guys leave. The days of Chris Paul leaving his small market team in his prime for big cities are over. So we either take our chance on a guy like Rubio or stop giving away lottery picks and draft one

how about when he's missing wide open 3's and where down 10 with 5 minutes left

As opposed to Jose who does what? Rubio's job isnt to shoot 3s. Its to create easy shots for KP, Melo and the other 2 guys on the floor. That and playing top flight defense. Do you think he could do that?

I was actually joking as Briggs called Darren Collison one of the best defenders at PG in the league and told I didnt know the NBA and could go back to napping.

Rubio cant shoot at all, I get it... but he's actually a pretty good player. He gets a boatload of steals and assists. He always hits his FTs also, and he is a big reason for Town's early success. He's got incredible court vision as well. So as usual Briggs takes one aspect of his game (as he did with Collison) and makes broad sweeping statements that are not reality.

Rubio is not the mold of player I would target no... but he's got a skill set that can be used.

I don't care what anyone says cause you can win games with R.Rubio as your point guard. Your point guard doesn't have to be a great shooter to win if they can do other things like passing, getting to the basket and playing defense well and Rubio can do those things. I said this in another thread that if we did get Rubio the next thing i would try to do is get a SG that can shoot the crap out of the ball like a K.Bazemore or a B.Beal or if we couldn't get a bigger name like those two we could try to get E.Fournier or R.Foye or even OJ Mayo.

PG--R.Rubio
SG--K.Bazemore
SF--Melo
PF--KP6
C--R.Lopez

That team would not only make the playoffs but make some noise in the playoffs.

IDK, when you look at the triangle, and the success of it, it requires a pg that can shoot from the perimeter. Rubio has played for the worst team in the league his entire career, which means he has never elvated his team. Pg's still have very good games against him and i don't think he's ever made a all defensive team. You can't have a guard who can't shoot despite being good in other areas..shooting from the perimeter is a must, especially in this day and age.

Not while BRIGGS is on watch, we're not.

In this case, thank god for Briggs! I never understood the fascination with his game???

Don't you love Schved? That describes him exactly!

(career .369 shooter who played something like 150 games in 3 NBA seasons).

Good post. We haven't even had a year of good PG play. Half a year of Felton with MDA, a qtr year of Lin. Two good weeks from Billups. Baron Davis, Bibby, Toney Douglas, Pablo, Duhon... the last good one was Marbury and he simply wasn't ready to be what we needed.
