even though i wanted melo to average no more than 30 minutes a game, we got great basketball out of melo for 35 games this season before he started to break down from too many minutes-- we should all be grateful for those 35 games but as he continues to age the super-max contract will continue to look worse and worse. as it is if he playes 66 games this season, that is 347,000 dollars per game, or 11,500 dollars per minute at 30 minutes a game.
i really hope he does what's right by the knicks and removes himself from the all-star game. if he doesn't then it's really not a good look and it will reek of same ole conceited me-first melo.
we should also all accept that, perhaps, his destiny as a key piece of a title-contending knicks team will be in limited minutes off the bench. he should have never been playing more than 30 minutes a game to begin with. the writing is on the wall.
going forward the knicks and fisher should be focussing on developing the team with limited melo minutes in mind as they prepare for upcoming seasons-- playoffs should be an afterthought.
even the most sentimental knicks fans/melo fans should be on board with this.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
