A. Gain confidence?
B. Gain game rhythm?
C. Work on his perimeter shot in a game situation?
D. Be given the keys to the team for 40 minutes?

What pray tell is wrong with 5 games in the D league?

He definitely needs the d league time. You can't pay favorites. Cleananthony played great in pre season then became an after though and had a few stints in the d league this year. Grant needs to go and we need to get a pro ready guard in here

I believe there is some talent with Grant and perhaps he'll develop a jump shot and make better use of his skills. If Blake Griffin gets swapped for Melo and Afflalo with Lance Stephenson thrown in the deal, do you want Grant or Galloway running that talent up front. Lopez, Porzingis, Griffin, Lance Thomas and Derek Williams. Seraphin, OQuinn, Grant, Calderon are all trade fodder to gain cap space. Yet Rose or Jennings may be in play and the rotation next year has to have a Conley or Rose or a talented guard running that talent.

This kid will come in much improved by next season. I see no reason not to add another PG to shore up that position

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

can you please provide other examples of someone who started this low for his career, was picked in the late teens or early twenties at the PG position and suddenly skyrocketed to "much improved" (whatever that means) in the 2nd season?

The kid needs to see the ball go in the basket. You know unless we can make a trade that makes us better using Grant he should be the 3 rd Pg and should've had some pt in the dleague have to look at him on a 2-3 year timeline

I think Grant can be a lot better next year.

If Jose can come back healthy, I think the Knicks should think about sending Grant to the D-league for a two week stint and then bring in Fredette or Wroten on a 10-day contract in the meantime. Why the hell not at this stage?

We could just go with my plan and have a fire sale by putting every player we have besides KP and Melo and get as many draft picks or young players on cheap contracts as we can and if Grant is still here after that we play him and let him learn. I don't see one single player on this team besides Melo and KP that can't be replaced easily by players as good or better in the off season. We start loading up on draft picks whether they're 1st or 2nd rounders and whether they're in this next draft or a future draft.

It's not fair to completely give up on him. He's going to improve. He needs seasoning. He's also 24 years old. He's not 19.

And he played 5 years....

I'm just saying he needs time to adjust. I want to see him in the d league. He needs to shake the nerves.

Based on how good he was when I saw him in college and based on the games he's played where he's looked good. I bet next season he has a lot more of those games where he looks good.

We've seen hints of what he can do, but it is frustrating to see how hesitant he is at times, especially with his shot. There have been only a few games where he seemed to have found a comfort zone within the flow of our offense.

They may feel he can improve more by practicing with the Knicks than playing in the DL.

Has Fisher or Phil ever been asked about Grant being sent to the DL for some work?

He needs a stretch of about 4/5 good games to get him going, IMO.

I expect him to be better later in the year, and especially next year, but he needs a confidence boost in the immediate future, and I'm not sure that being on a team that still wants to to squeeze into the playoffs can afford to give him the leeway to grow into the role he's expected to fill.

Based on the history of most PGs in the league today. With the exception of Chris Paul, most of the top point guards in the league need two to three years to adjust. It was probably unfair to expect Grant to contribute out the gate. Unfortunately, we don't have the depth to make him sit.
