I'm honestly surprised Jimmer didn't get the call for at least the next two games with Jose out.

If they just needed a body i would think that body would of been from the guard position since that's where we lack at the most especially if Calderon is out. This could be nothing at all but i think it means a trade is coming and either DW or Lance (boo hoo) will be involved. Of course this is just me assuming.

Sasha, AA, LT and Thanasis can both play the Guard position
Grant and Gallo can play the PG or SG position

It's either a trade potential chip or more bodies to replace Melo and Calderon.....And limit Fisher's overuse of LT. Did I read somewhere that LT has played over 40mins in his two games after sitting out injured? Looks like add depth to help prevent that from happening again, until Melo comes back. The same seat Early was warming up!

Or it could be that Lance's knee is still bothering him and Melo is out and they are short at the forward position with Early also out.

Wasn't the OKC game LT's first game back?? If so then i guess he hasn't played 40 minutes in two games back.

i don't think you can include 10-day contracts in a trade if you're saying Thanasis.

Sounds like Jimmer and Wroten were considered:

http://nypost.com/2016/01/28/knicks-bring-up-greek-freaks-brother-over-jimmer/

The Greek Freak’s brother is coming.

Small forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo, a 2014 second-round pick who was released during training camp, will sign a 10-day contract to claim the Knicks’ open roster spot and will join the club for Friday’s game against the Suns at the Garden.

Antetokounmpo, whose younger brother Giannis is a star for the Bucks, had been playing for the D-League Westchester Knicks, averaging 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. The defensive specialist, 23, also played last season in Westchester after being selected 51st overall. The Knicks no longer held his NBA rights and any team could have signed him as a free agent.

Sources had told The Post the Knicks were waiting to use the roster spot only when faced with an injury. With Cleanthony Early out due to a gunshot wound to his knee and Jose Calderon developing a sore groin this week, the Knicks have a need for a healthy reserve.

It was a surprise considering the Knicks had been evaluating sharpshooting guard Jimmer Fredette, a Westchester teammate, but did not deem his defense up to snuff. Antetokounmpo is well versed in the triangle offense from his time with the Knicks’ D-League affiliate, as opposed to former 76ers guard Tony Wroten, who was considered another 10-day candidate.

Trading one of those two for Teague would be stupid as hell

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Makes no sense to me as we lack scoring still. Maybe as a practice player unless for his defense?

Jimmer, Saunders and Trice have arguably played better than him. His offense is not really ready for the NBA yet.

Maybe they look at him, mostly in practice...perhaps in a game or two, and if they like him, they keep him, and if not satisfied...they give Atkins or someones else a look, depending on what the team is actually looking for.

Do they plan on using Thanasis as a SG, specifically for his D? Is he there because of something we don't know about Anthony's health?

I assume that Fisher will give us some kind of idea about how he might be used before the game tonight.

It is weird that they are worried with Jimmers D as a 3rd stringer but they are totally fine with Jose's D as a starter.

Maybe they're challenging him to improve it first, because they think he can get better.

Kinda like how they didn't just hand DWill playing time, but made him improve his D and rebounding to get more time.

I think they may have a method to their Jimmermania.

He's not playing tonight so he's not gonna be defending Derozan. They said he'll be ready for the Friday game against Pheonix.
